Bio

THE BAND
Crooked Mile performs mostly their own original compositions along with some classic country music standards. Although based in traditional Americana roots and country music, the band can shift from raucous and wild to soft and easy without missing a beat.

The band’s unique blend of musical style and talent has helped them gain a strong and growing fan base, and a nomination for Best Country Band in the 2005 Free Times Music Awards (Cleveland, OH). It has also earned them several notable engagements including openers for national and semi-national acts such as Pat Green, Tift Merritt, Slaid Cleaves and BR549. Other highlights include a showcase at the 2004 Midpoint Music Festival (Cincinnati, OH) and pre-concert openers for Toby Keith at Blossom Music Center (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) in 2002 and 2003.

So, if you’re looking for a little country, a little rock-n-roll and a whole lot of originality, then get yourself on the Crooked Mile.

BOB LANPHIER
Bob Lanphier began playing the guitar at the ripe old age of eight, and played his first public date at age ten. His ability to incorporate and adapt to different musical styles has led him through many projects playing hundreds of gigs over the past twenty-five years. As a songwriter, he was twice named as a semi-finalist in the Billboard National Songwriter's contest, and he has performed at many songwriter showcases including Nashville's legendary Blue Bird Cafe'.

JOHNNY DORADO
Side-kick and partner in crime, Johnny Dorado has laid down the bass in many projects with Lanphier over the years. His strong sense of melody is effortlessly mixed with a perfect knack for "holding down the groove" creating a solid foundation for whatever band he plays with. Johnny D too has covered a wide range of musical styles, and his twenty year partnership with Lanphier enables the two to mesh perfectly and compliment each other's styles with ease.

ROB LUOMA
Rob Luoma is one of Cleveland's best and most respected drummers. His twelve year stint with regional sensation Oroboros took him all over the US and as far as Thailand playing to enthusiastic audiences and keeping the dance floors filled with his solid timekeeping and imaginative dynamics. His talent and easy-going nature have made him a favorite among all the musicians who've played with him

AL MOSS
Al Moss is one of Northeast Ohio’s premier pedal steel guitar players. When he’s not adding the country twang to Crooked Mile, Al’s steel playing, singing, songwriting, acoustic guitar, and production work can be heard on the recordings of Northeast Ohio favorite, Hillbilly IDOL.

DAN ROSE
Dan is a veteran lead guitarist, flat-picker and banjo player from the Cleveland area roots-rock and bluegrass scene. From the late 90's through 2002, Dan performed with independent touring and recording artist Mothertrain, as well as numerous other Cleveland-based singer-songwriters.
