Crooked River and their families got together for dinner every Friday for several years before Rob started teaching Lana to play guitar. Less than a year later, Rob, Teri and Lana began to play Carter Family, Johnny Cash and Hank Williams tunes together, with Rob and Lana on guitar and Teri on harmonica. Teri learned to play guitar shortly after and began writing songs as well, while Rob and Lana continued to write original material. The next thing Crooked River knew, they had a cache of original music. In recent times, Rob switched to the mandolin, giving the sound a new depth.
