And I thought the Exploders were the only Australian band that did the 70s rock revival any justice. But then I heard Cross-Eyed Mary - these guys take an inspired approach to that old chestnut rock’n’roll. On all four tracks of the In Tents EP, Cross-Eyed Mary push forward with much impetus and ability. The syncopated guitars are the centre=piece to most tracks, but the exceptional bass playing and drumming are also a major feature of this album. The stand-out song of In Tents is the massive track Bridget. This song starts with a huge rock riff that tones down slightly as Timothy Hocking’s Jim-Morrison-meets-Jack-White vocals come in. The song also features a blues rock breakdown reminiscent of Canned Heat’s On The Road Again. EP opener Back Again is a soft and sneakily contagious rock sing-a-long. This participation is inspired by sweet vocal melodies and well timed choral refrains. The fourth and final track on In Tents. Passer By is very mid-90s soft rock, a la The Gin Blossoms or Blind Melon. There’s nothing like a bit of uplifting, easy listening to bring your thoughts up and to put a quiet and pleasant smile on your face. Cross-Eyed Mary are a shining example of how much talent is booting around the Melbourne scene at the moment. DAN WATT - BEAT MAGAZINE

Five track EP titled 'Down This Road'.
'Reeba' one of our earlier tracks, (not on EP) gained quite a bit of airplay on student and local radio stations such as SYN FM and RRR, and also late night airings on Triple J.

We have just recorded a four track EP recorded at Woodstock Studios in East St Kilda (Melbourne, Australia). The four tracks plus others can be heard on the audio page.

Track 1 - Back Again
Track 2 - Bridget
Track 3 - Get Free
Track 4 - Passer By

The EP titled 'IN TENTS' was released March 24th this year and is available for purchase from our website or myspace page.

Cross-Eyed Mary started life in 2001 under the ridiculous guise of 'Salad Monkey'.

After coming to our senses, we decided on a name change, and settled upon the slightly (but only slightly) less ridiculous name of 'Cross-Eyed Mary'.

We released a five track EP in 2005, and March this year released a four track EP titled 'IN TENTS'. So far this year we have been lucky to support some great bands such as Killing Heidi, Black Sorrows, The Drones and have just been included as support for Melbourne band 'The Basics' for their 'homecoming tour' in October touring VIC, NSW & QLD.

We are not a band to be pigeon-holed and our style has been described in reviews as 'Liverpool Beat Cavern Club' thru 'old school bluesy rock' to a tinge of 'chicken pickin' country'!
