"Cody O’Neill & Crosswind/ Denim & Diamonds, Wichita Falls, Texas 06 September 2012"

The first time I saw this band was over a year ago. They had a definite southern rock feel to them. Fast forward to now, and the only members still in the band from that original show I saw are keyboardist Dennis Chavez and lead guitarist Shane McClennen. With the addition of Brandon Hudson on drums, Raetzsch Shaw on bass, Mike Wadsworth on acoustic guitar and Cody O’Neill providing rhythm guitar and lead vocals, this band has taken a totally different feel to it. Their sound is still firmly rooted in the Texas/Oklahoma music scene, but it has a little more edge to it that makes the stand out among other bands.

The band has a very solid set that they use that works very well. The set is challenging, but still plays to the band’s strengths. They have three or four cover songs in their set and the rest of the songs are originals, authored by Cody O’Neill and Mike Wadsworth. The songs are sometimes a bit revealing into their lives, but just about anyone that has experienced any sort of personal and relationship turmoil can very easily identify. They also know how to just flat out rock in the set as well. Shane McClennen’s guitar work is nothing short of amazing. It’s not overpowering, but he can flat blow the audience away when the need arises. The show has gained a polish and tightness over time that makes it fun to watch, yet the guys can still manage to cut up and interact with the crowd.

BOTTOM LINE: If you want to see a show that you will enjoy and feel like you are watching close friends play, go check them out! - Mike Cheney-Writer for Southern Music Scene Magazine

I have had the pleasure of working with "Crosswind" on two occasions and attending an additional "Crosswind" show as part of the audience. First and foremost, "Crosswind" is a high leve professional band, with their eye on the future. They are, one and all, professionals in every sense of the work. You will find, from a producers or club owners perspective that "Crosswind", the band, the support personnel and management, to be of the finest people you have ever dealt with. The crowd will enjoy not only their music, but additionally, their interaction with the crowd and their honest appreciation of each and every audience member. If you are a fan of live music "Crosswind" is a must see. I see literally hundred of bands each year, and I will see "Crosswind" at every opportunity. The bands current release "Broken Angel" has been in very heavy rotation on the local Texas Music stations. It has very solid vocals that will straight out amaze you. These guys put alot of thought & effort into every aspect of their show & it pays off in a show that is alot of fun to watch & listen to . This band is definitely on the short list of bands that you may hear of and really need to go see if you're a fan of music!

BOTTOM LINE: Crosswind is a great band that is a treat to listen to! You won’t find a better bunch of guys to hang out with either! - Mike Cheney-Southern Music Scene

"Crosswind/Iron Horse Pub/Wichita Falls,TX/July 15, 2011"

Visually, these guys look a lot like Lynrd Skynrd and feel a lot like them. They have a bunch of fun on stage and it really shows! They are a definitely a good time rock and roll band that can straight out play! There's an unmistakable and very strong southern rock influence to them. It's really not hard to feel the Allman Brothers influence in them as well. There's a very strong, hard working, blue-collar feel to these guys that you can't, buy or learn by watching others. It truly has to be experienced the hard way and these guys have definitely learned and felt everything just that way! Their cover of Randy Rogers Band's "Interstate" was very soulful and filled with a lot of feeling. The cover of John Mellencamp's "Pink Houses" that they did was nothing short of amazing! They definitely have more southern rock influence than 99.9999% of the bands on the Texas/Red Dirt scene have, yet they fit in the genre' pretty well. This band is definitely on the short list of bands that you may hear of and really need to go see if you're a fan of music!

Bio

Cody O'Neill, lead singer/songwriter, electric guitar and (Miller) Mike Wadsworth, acoustic guitar, harmonica, joined forces with Crosswind in the fall of 2011 to what is now Cody O'Neill & the Crosswind. Cody's songwriting abilities brought a more Texas Rock & Roll sound to their music. Their song "Broken Angel" was the #1 most requested song out of The Top 10 Most Requested Song/Artist on 94.9 The Outlaw for 2011 announced December 31, 2011 by program director James Cook as he played & counted down the Top10. Dennis "Dino" Chavez, keyboard, and Shane McClennen, lead guitar, were already longtime Crosswind members when bassist Raetzsch Shaw and drummer Brandon Hudson joined the high energy group eager to be aboard with the Cody O'Neill & the Crosswind entourage. They just finished their first cd "TRAINWRECK" that has 17 original songs and will be out the first of August 2012. Three of the songs just happened to be written and recorded right there in the studio spontaneously.

Since then, they've made a name for themselves playing in Oklahoma & Texas with their Rockin Texas music.

They've opened for various artists & shared the stages with Jason Boland & the Stragglers, Randy Rogers, Josh Abbott, Casey Donahue, No Justice, Johnny Cooper, Bart Crow, Rich O'Toole, Jamie Richards, Grainger Smith, Jerry Audley, Craig Morgan, Rick Trevino, Highway 101, Gary Stewart, David Allan Coe & many others.
