- Underground Empire - Stefan Glas

"German Guitar God's Join Blue Pie Records"

Blue Pie is pleased to announce the arrival of German melodic metal guitar gods Crow 7. With a sound they've branded PROgressiveMEtalROck, that echoes the influences of bands like: AVANTASIA, JORN or EXCALION and songwriting prestige that harks back to that of melodic heroes like JADED HEART and even ALICE COOPER.

Reknown for their blistering live show, CROW 7 have a full blown rock opera in production, which will bring their latest metal bohemeth Light in My Dungeon, ironically, to life.

This band is creating global sound waves that brought them to the attention of Blue Pie's business development team and Kieran Wicks, who is working closely with the band and their manager CJ Style to bring their music to the masses.

Wicks is "super excited to be working with such rock royalty! Frank Tieneman aka Corbin Eved is a legendary axe man, it's not often you come across such dedicated EAR-GASMIC twin guitar gods and vocal attack with a rhythm section that shakes the earth"!

Blue Pie's license team has already secured a placement for the new album's title track in the great new film "Dealing with Destiny" released through Holliday Entertainment.

Crow 7's latest masterpiece Light In My Dungeon and their highly sought after debut The Picture, will be out on Blue Pie Records for the world.

Corbin Eved, Gideon Vanth, Aladiah Leak, Janus Mantus and Seth Aban are the band members who bring Crow 7 to life.

We are super excited about this great new discovery of unadultered melodic metal gold in Germany and we know that you will be too. - MI2

"Rezension CROW7 "Light In My Dungeon""

"Review Light In My Dungeon"

With „Light in my dungeon“ the german meldodic rockers Crow 7 published their second full length album after their2006 output „The Poison“.

The band describes their style as back to the 80's with modern elements direct from hell an with lyrice that bring your way back to life. Sounds interesting...so let's start direct into the album.

The Album, that dark but stylish cover artwork hits the eyes immediately, will be opened with the tile track. Keyboard meet guitars in a way of better Domain. Responsible for the melodic but also hoarse vocalse is Corbin Eved, who gives this song a proper dose of power. Amazing refrain underlined with the female voice of Aladiah Leak. Song with no frills, always melodic but powerful. Meanwhile there exists a video of this song that is leaned to cult horror films like Blade and is not really capable to sensitive people.

Generally we can say that the deark, horror-inspired concept stands in opposition to the melodic music arrangements. This offers an interesting mixture that I didn't know before so far.

Similar start „Heal your wounds“. Hard guitar licks of guitarist Seth Aban. Powerful drum sound of drummer Janus Mantus. The vocals lie deeper here what brings the song a higher degree of hardness. Nice guitar solo between and again a refrain to remember mark this speedy smasher in tradition of melodic heroes like Jaded Heart or even Alice Cooper.

After this „Deadly crime“ starts slower. The vocals are getting better and better and are supported sometimes from dark sequences in between. So it underlines the horror base without fearing the listener. Wonderful guitar work and the pumping bass of Gideon Vanth don't give us time to think about if this song is a semi-ballad or not. Cause of the musical arrangements for me the best song so far.

„On the lane“ opens with a short piano part but guitars, drums and bass kill the key instrument soon . Growl elements are plugged into the vocals here too. Corbin Eved heighten his voice into a vocal rage. An expression of hopelessness and pain. The singer knows how to express different vocal moods and owns a strong timbre with high recognition value. The keyboard despairingly tries to break through in some passages again but in the end it does't have a chance against the present and brilliant instrumental work of it's other colleagues.

Spheric entrance in „Watchout the Claws“, interrupted by a riff attack. Remembers me a bit to a band called Inmoria or maybe Morgana Lefay. Yes.....well I am thinking all the time about parallels in Corbins voice. I think...here I am right. All in all a quite hard song with atmospheric, dark refrain.

Straight forward without mercy, no instument breaks out. A dark masterpiece with equal rights and without any frills. It burns your ass !

„Name the liar“ is more playful. A real hardrocker with painting keyboard in the back. A track in midtempo with different sound effects like gun shots, sirens and so on. This brings the song off the road of straightness but it fits to the lyric concept. Simple done....or maybe even not.

The essential ballad follows with „Wall 'round my heart“. A ballad like it has to be in melodic bands. Slower vocals meet piano meet elegian guitars. Not exaggerated cheesy but with enough emotions to assure our world of women. Doesn't hurt you and with it's warmth it won't let you perish.

Bass based start in „Number of life“. Finally we can hear Aladiah again some times. The keyboards bring the song near to Domain again. Full of harmonies, but guitar orientated. A change of male/female art of singing as a sequence in between leans the song together with dreaming guitar licks a seperate note. Powerful and mighty the song ends.

„Rumours ground“ grows with a power guitar riff. Again a more speedful track. We can find out an affinity here to White Lion in their early days. Built straight with great refrain. The hammond organ spins in the backyard, rhythm guitars carry the song to the solo. Good song. Easy...but not uninteresting in it's structure.

„Who will save us now ?“ - No one has to be saved, cause the song delivers a brilliant performance in songwriting. From native to midtempo and with a refrain to die for. Background shouts change the harmonically mood occasionally but doesn't anticipate the definitely live-capable song structure. Adapted to sing with.

Very heavy we are heading to the end with „Water into wine“. The drums push the song and the hard guitar riffs do the rest. A refrain that is more not compatible for the masses. The hardest track of the compete album. Very metallic. The fist class of the musicians will be shown here again with intense. Without needless rubbish...only straight to the end.

And the end follows signiticantly with „Out“. Amazing synthie passage in the beginning. Again five minutes of art in melodic music. The synths appear again and again and leans the song an own progressive touch. A speedy bouncer, partly h - Metalfields

"CROW7 - Light In My Dungeon Review"

CROW7 is certainly an odd name for a band, so maybe it’s fitting that the band itself is quite odd in its own little way. At the base of their sound is pure melodic metal but digging deeper exposes elements of gothic metal, tiny hits of modern metal and even the occasional death metal growly vocal line. All of this could have really ended up a right mess, as has been proven by many bands before, but somehow CROW7 just make it work.

The songs are quite catchy and often I was reminded of some of the simpler moments of the work released under the AVANTASIA moniker, albeit in a less progressive style. Songs like opening tune LIGHT IN MY DUNGEON, DEADLY CRIME and NUMBER OF LIFE are all good tunes that will sit comfortably in the ear of any melodic metal fan. There is the odd filler or two but overall I’d say that at least eight of the twelve tracks on offer will find some love from fans of the genre.

It’s a difficult one to rate really because the fact is there is nothing wrong with LIGHT IN MY DUNGEON and CROW7 seem to be a band that has all the ingredients in place for future success, but what they are doing isn’t really anything new or groundbreaking. So sure, you will probably get a bit of a heard it all before type feeling when listening to this album, but you’ll be having so much fun while doing so that it just won’t matter. The little elements that the band have included for variety aren’t really used to full effect but when they do pop up they are usually unobtrusive but quite welcome at the same time. If you don’t like death metal vocals don’t fret, they don’t happen often enough for it to bother anyone, but probably also don’t happen often enough for those that enjoy this certain element of the bands sound.

If you are a fan of melodic metal in general, or the heavier side of melodic rock, including bands like AVANTASIA, JORN or EXCALION you have nothing to lose by checking out the new album by CROW7. As mentioned above, it doesn’t reinvent the wheel or anything, but it sure is an enjoyable album none the less.

"CROW7 - Light In My Dungeon"

Ähnlich beginnt auch „Heal your wounds“. „Name the Liar“ dagegen ist etwas verspielter. Bass-lastiger Start in „ Number of life“. „Who will save us now ?“ - Gerettet werden muß hier eigentlich niemand, brilliert der Song doch mit tollem Songaufbau.

Bio

CROW7 hails from Germany. The band is surrounded by the energy of mystic forces that brought the band to call themselves “CROW7”. The name was derived from an ancient Indian Totem and the life path number of the band founder and leader Corbin Eved. The life path of the number 7 and the power of the Crow united to form CROW7.
The name invokes symbolism and magic for the 4 members. From the moment that the band came to life the members gave rise to their new stage names.

CROW7 believe that light can only exist through darkness; the good in us lives in balance with the evil. The music of CROW7 relates directly to this philosophy taking the listener on a sonic journey through the dimensions of good and evil in the world.

CROW7 give rise to the meaning of hope for a better world in all they do. Their music is uplifting and captures the essence of this belief from the band. Just listen and you will hear the magic of CROW7 as it blends with your soul and takes you on a magical mysterious journey to new dimensions in time and space.

The bands debut album was titled “The Picture”. This was a pure studio project. The album received rave reviews and started to build the CROW7 army of fans. Full of melody and passion the album cemented the bands position in the world of hair metal and rock.

The bands second Album packed more life and theatrics into the bands stage performance. Everything about “Light In My Dungeon” was meant for large audiences.
CROW7 rose to the challenge and infused their own magic life force into every note on this album to deliver a body of work that is emotional and extremely memorable.

CROW7 delivers a sound that could have easily been at home on the debut night of MTV when they launched in the USA back in the 80’s. They blend a 70’s rock with 80’s hair metal sounds with a touch millennium technology to deliver modern melodic millennium metal. CROW7 calls their personal music style ProMeRo (Progressive Metal Rock)

Since June 2011 the band have been back in the HauntSound studios to finish the recordings of their 3rd album "Symphony Of Souls". Early winter time the album will be released. The video clip of the single “Symphony Of Souls” can be seen on the Media Page.
