Bio
Glasgow band Crow Road formed in late 2009 in the form of singer/songwriter Paul Gibson, guitarist Jamie Turner, and drummer Duncan Kelso. Gigging in Glasgow and the recording and release of debut single "What Your Hand Can't Hold" with producer Stuart McLeod (The Dykeenies, Amy MacDonald) saw the band receive positive reviews and attention from Scottish pundits.
Summer 2010 saw the introduction of bassist Ross Beattie, a decision that has seen the band succeed even further, gaining supports slots with Twin Atlantic, The Boy Who Trapped the Sun, Three Blind Wolves and Surfer Blood. In addition to these shows, Crow Road narrowly missed out on winning the Billy Kelly Songwriting award after making it to the final.
The band returned to the Studio in late 2010 to record an EP which is ready for it's anticipated May 2011 release. This year has seen the band play shows across Scotland as well as trips to Belfast and more recently The Dublin Castle in London. A UK tour is planned for May/June and the EP has already received very positive reviews.
The music itself is a blend of contemporary and traditional genres. Tender folky vocals intertwine with angular lead guitar and a powerful rhythm section to create a hook-filled, catchy, heartfelt result. Influences range from the southern drawls of Ryan Adams and Caleb Followill to the crunching sounds of Twin Atlantic and We Were Promised Jetpacks. The end product is one that gets your toes tapping and your hands clapping.
Crow Road have all the ingredients for a bright and inspired future.
