"Must Hear: Robert Blue Moon ‘Cosmos’"

Reminiscent of an early Lupe Fiasco track, Robert Blue Moon glides into our hearts with his track “Cosmos.” Hailing from a group of musical geniuses from Orlando, known as Crvscxnt Moon, Robert Blue Moon shines with his single, to later follow with his debut EP, Plexus Solair.

Fusing a self-proclaimed “intergalactic” atmosphere to the track, “Cosmos” comes across as an inventive piece of soul, translating emotions into vivid sounds. Holding onto a chill, and nostalgic fluidity, the track is anything but stuck in the past audio waves.

Reviving the heart of the track with strings, keys, and a smooth production, courtesy of Carlow, intangible colors are felt. Robert Blue Moon’s rap then leads us into the world he’s creating, with ease and grace. Based on a beautiful concept, Robert explains further on the track’s story.

Cosmos is a song, that is a story of a young, intelligent African-American boy who desires to change the world one day through science, a boy who is in tune with the world around him; he feels the very vibrations of the soil underneath his feet, the weight behind the words people speak and sees the light many try and seek and the darkness behind the smiles and the pain in the streets. This young boy is not feeling the world but being felt by it, that coupled with the fact that his upbringing is one many wish to never see, he feels that his only get away from it all is to look way above him and imagine himself flying into the night sky and finding peace within the depths of the “Cosmos.”

While nostalgia is a core influence, the hip-hop track possesses qualities that don’t come across as often- story, heart, sound, and delivery.

Foreshadowing a great year to come, Robert Blue Moon has also created a relationship with artist JMSN, as well as collaborating with White Room Records, proving that this is an artist to definitely watch out for in 2016. - Girl Underground Music

"FAMU Alumni in Artist Collective Aim for the Moon"

After performing at the Anthem International Music Festival and participating in the acclaimed youbloomLA2015, the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) alums that help make up the emerging music group, Crvscxnt Moon are gearing up to make a major impact.

The ambitious group, which has received praise from established artists like Wyclef Jean, recently submitted work for consideration to perform at national, annual festivals like South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, and Miami’s Jazz in the Gardens Festival.

Drawing from other artist collectives like TDE, led by Grammy award-winning artist Kendrick Lamar, and Odd Future, led by Tyler – the Creator, Crvscxnt Moon describes their music as “hip-neo soul.” Their aim is to provide musical stylings that challenge social norms, intrigue the mind, and break racial and social boundaries.

The group is comprised of three men and one woman. Two – Kwayzar (Jesse Romimora) and Robert Blue Moon (Kinley Fleurejuste) – are Rattlers.

Members Menlo Black, Messa, Kwayzar and Robert Blue Moon each offer a unique ingredient needed to set the group apart from the competition. The high level of musicianship among the collaborators provides a lively and distinct sound.

Singer and rapper Black cites guitar and piano as part of his repertoire; Messa is a singer/songwriter, who mixes unique blends of heavy-hitting R&B and thoughtful lyrics; and FAMU graduate Blue Moon is an unconventional singing rapper who loves storytelling.

Blue Moon says that his time at FAMU exposed him to different people from all walks of life and helped him learn to connect doing what he loves best, particularly with one of his closest and dearest friends Keenan Stewart who passed away in 2013.

“Even after Keenan passed away, what he taught me stuck with me,” Blue Moon said. “He always pushed me and gave me faith that I could share my talent with the world.”

Blue moon added, “I am forever thankful for him and for FAMU bringing people like us (Crvscxnt Moon) together.”

Kwayzar, who recently earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in graphic design from the University, is the only member of the group that is not a musician by trade. He, instead, is a graphic designer, photographer, and CEO of Keen Eye Photography. Kwayzar prides himself on bringing Crvscxnt Moon’s music to life in a visual format.

“Music acts as the glue that holds this group together, connecting, strengthening, and enforcing the creative energies we’ve developed on our own over the years,” Kwayzar said. “We are dedicated to our journey and purpose.” - Famu Forward News

"MY FIRST TIME: youbloom | HEADROOM #7: with Featured Artists from the Los Angeles 2015 Music Festival"

Damessa (power vox, Crvscxnt Moon): “My first singing lesson wasn’t until I was 10 years old. I was fresh meat at a performing arts school (Osceola County School for the Arts). I enjoyed every moment of it. (It’s where) I learned the basics of music.”

Whip smart and acerbic, yet feel-good and uplifting, this is a group with cunning musical abilities and a tangible desire to venture beyond the well-tread environs of intellectual hip-hop. Crvscxnt Moon blend soul and gospel into a refreshing helping of music with something to discuss. For fans of: J. Cole, Blackalicious, Mr. Lif - Shannon Duvall

"MY FIRST TIME: youbloom | HEADROOM #12 with Featured Artists from the youbloomLA 2015 Music Festival"

Robert Blue Moon (poet/emcee/other vox, Crvscxnt Moon), MY FIRST TIME: “When I was young I heard The Fugees “Ready or Not”. (It) made a huge impression on me; by far it’s the song that drove me towards music the most. It had such a groove to it; I couldn’t help but try and learn the words so I could sing and rap along with it. A few years later two songs hit it out of the park for me: Jay-Z’s “Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)” and Nas’ “I Can”. These two hip-hop artists showed the world that they were here to stay.”

"THE PLUNGE X DOUBLE TROUBLE: youbloom | HEADROOM #8 with Featured Artists from the Los Angeles 2015 Music Festival"

Robert Blue Moon(poet/emcee/other vox, Crvscxnt Moon): “The first band or collective I can say I was a part of was (called) Cream of the Block. It included me, my current band members Menlo and Kwazar, and a producer of ours named Chris Felix (of Cloudy River Music). We were young, talented and naïve we knew nothing close to what we know now, but we tried our hardest to make a movement via Myspace. Now that I look back on it, those were fun and easy times, but I am so happy that we have grown since then.”

Menlo Black(vox/raps/guitar/piano, Crvscxnt Moon): “My first music group formed in the halls of my middle school. P$C was created by a gang of T.I.-influenced southern kids. Although our run only lasted until winter break, we filled our lunch room with breakbeats built with table tops and Bic pens.”

"BEFORE I DIE: youbloom | HEADROOM #3 with Featured Artists from the Los Angeles 2015 Music Festival"

Menlo Black (vox/raps/guitar/piano, Crvscxnt Moon)

1| I want to travel the world and see the way people of different cultures and backgrounds respond to my music. I want to experience new cultures and I would be honored to have any of my songs included in another world culture, even if only for a short time.

2| Another music goal would be to earn the respect of producers and technicians who practice at the professional level. I want to create a sound (both in the studio and live) so sonically unique that I inspire a plugin that becomes a standard on every DAW and is taught to new technicians for years to come.

3| Finally, I want to share my faith and personal passions through my music in a way that is both relatable and true to myself. I want to say at the end of my career that I did it my way and didn’t compromise my values for money or fame. I want to keep and maintain my integrity as an artist and as a man.

"BEFORE I DIE: youbloom | HEADROOM #6: with Featured Artists from the Los Angeles 2015 Music Festival"

Robert Blue Moon(poet/emcee/other vox, Crvscxnt Moon): This is a tough question, but I think from now on until I carry out these goals they will always be at the top of my list.

1| Some of my biggest musical goals would have to start off with becoming a master in all things music; I will not leave this world happy if I am unable to master the piano, guitar, saxophone, as well as producing, singing, writing – the whole nine yards. I want to reach such a high level of skill that I will be remembered when it is all said and done as the one who did it all. I feel that if I set the bar pretty high with my first one, I will do my best to follow up.

2| A close second would be to use my musical platform to attack the “norms” of this world. We have been lead to believe it is okay for so many things that frankly shouldn’t be at all, such as a mother (living) on the street with her children; families where the father or mother have to starve themselves so their children are able to eat…I want to use my musical platform to fix things to show people the dark side of the world and be the person who begins a movement for real change. So much music out there these days may uplift people, but if the artists themselves do not get in on the ground floor with the people who they are uplifting, then how can we as musicians expect to make true change?

3| This leads me into my next goal: music is about feelings and I want the people who listen to my music to feel as if they belong somewhere. We all want to feel loved and know that we matter, but above all, I believe people primarily want someone who understands them. If I can do that, well, by the end of my career I will be the happiest man alive.

Bio

Crvscxnt Moon is a group of 4 artists determined to change the world using the same skills that brought them together.

"We bring a completely different mindset to the genres of rock, indie, hip-hop, and gospel. Music should be a unique experience, so we push the topics of our lyrics and the tonics in our chords in order leave an impression on our listeners. Our music tackles issues like love, relationships, ethnics, ethics, and society.

Robert BlueMoon (singer/rapper), Messa (singer/songwriter), and Menlo Black (songwriter/rapper) form Crvscxnt's musical front lines. The musical members play instruments ranging from piano to saxophone, with varied influences from Donna Summer to Go Radio and even Frank Ocean. The fourth member Kwayzar is a visual designer who uses cameras and lenses as his primary canvases. Kwayzar is the proud owner of a studio and company called Electric Eye.

The word crescent is derived etymologically from the present participle of the Latin verb crescere "to grow", thus meaning "waxing" or "increasing". Crescent Moon is the manifestation of growth from individuals into a force. We have worked hard on our skills and believe in working hard every waking day to take this to the next level. The crescent moon is one of the oldest symbols known to humanity, but this music group plans to carve a permanent spot right next to it in history.
