Cry of the Scapegoat

Cry of the Scapegoat

 Binghamton, New York, USA

Cry of the Scapegoat is a Christian Rock Band from Binghamton, NY. We are a ministry that desires to see the youth of our generation stand for the cause of Christ. Our purpose is to write music that connects to listeners, to share the hope of Christ with those who are in need of a Savior.

Our battle cry mimics the words of the Apostle Paul found in the New Testament where Paul informs his readers that in every circumstance he becomes all things to all men in order that he might save some (1 Corinthians 9.22).

In the same way, in such a diverse and ever changing society, we as a band seek to do all that we can in order that the Gospel is preached in its entirety and that our listeners walk away with the greatest message known to man which is that Christ has the power and authority to forgive sin and impute His righteousness unto us to make us children of God.

It is interesting that the word Scapegoat is a term that is used in the book of Leviticus 16.26. The English definition of a “Scapegoat” is one who takes on or bears the blame undeservingly; meaning that the one who is taking the blame upon themselves is in reality innocent. In the Old Testament we have given to us a picture of a goat that was sent out of the camp of the Israelites with the sins of the people prayed upon it. This served as a symbol or depiction of the removal of sin from the nation of Israel by using the “Scapegoat” to take the sins away from or out of the camp. This symbol for the removal of sin was later demonstrated in the New Testament when Christ took center stage and bore the sin of the entire world upon His shoulders in a sense becoming our “Scapegoat”. Scripture says that “He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him,” speaking of none other than Christ Himself (2 Corinthians 5.21).

Razor Blade

Written By: Cry of the Scapegoat

You call me up, with tears in your eyes
And it sounds like something’s wrong
You said you wish you could tell him
About the baby inside,
But this gift inside you is going
To change his world

So you grab the razor blade
Slash down your arms and legs
To bleed your emotions away
And I ask you, I beg you
Put down the razor blade
Put down the razor blade
But you said no man, I can’t and
These things are too hard and
Nobody cares anyway

And You would sacrifice yourself
For a world that doesn’t care
You would sacrifice yourself for them
Would you sacrifice yourself
For a world that doesn’t care
Would you sacrifice yourself for them
For them

Bobby gets home and his dad
Is drunk again, The house is a mess,
And a closed fist is waiting for him
His home is a prison, with screaming
Everywhere, now battered, bruised
Bobby just wants to disappear
Reaching for the drugs the screaming
Fades away, he’s drowning his emotions,
As he multiplies his pain but the blood
Stains on his shirt won’t go away
So I guess the drugs will have
To bring him through another day

So you finally told him
That you’re pregnant with his chid,
But the father doesn’t want it that way
So they took the baby from your womb
And now you cry on the floor of your room
On the floor of your room
Now standing over a blood stained sink
You reach for the blade again
And I ask you, I beg you
Put down the razor blade
Cause my daddy just wants to listen

Can you see me now
Cause I’m slowly starting to drown
In me, my sin
And I’m slowly sinking in

Underneath the water
I’m fading out, I’m fading

Won’t you be my escape
Cause I can’t breathe
And I’m still here, still drowning
Oh won’t you be my escape
Cause I’m still here
Still drowning again

Can you see yourself
You’re slowly fading out
Underneath this water
You’re slowly starting to drown

On April 3rd, 2011 we released our first album entitled, "Into The Storm". For our release concert, around 600 people attended. That night over 15 teenagers gave their lives to Christ, and over 50 recommitted their lives. We currently have 3 songs that have been released, and can be found on our website: Flood, Wolf Inside, & Razor Blade. We have been played on local radio stations, and we hope to be heard nationally very soon.
