"Christian Concert for Area Teens"

Hundreds of young people spent part of this evening, taking in a concert at the Union Center Christian Church.
The teens came from about 20 churches, some as far away as Chemung County.
The members of the band, "Cry of the Scapegoat" first began performing together after meeting at Davis College in Johnson City.
Organizers say events like these give teens a safe and fun atmosphere while learning a good message.

"Kids have all sorts of good and bad events available to them and we want to be able to offer events where they can come and learn about hope but also just have a good time. We want kids to be able to enjoy themselves and dance and jump up and down and listen to music they love to listen to," said Joshua Nickels, the Youth Pastor at the church.

"When you know you're bringing hope to a young person or their parents, the parents come. They don't all like the music but they like the message so it's cool" said lead singer of Cry of the scapegoat, Jared Ingraham.

In addition to the concert, tonight's event was a chance for teenagers to talk to each other about issues they're facing in their everyday lives. - Fox 40 News (Binghamton, NY)

Discography

On April 3rd, 2011 we released our first album entitled, "Into The Storm". For our release concert, around 600 people attended. That night over 15 teenagers gave their lives to Christ, and over 50 recommitted their lives. We currently have 3 songs that have been released, and can be found on our website: Flood, Wolf Inside, & Razor Blade. We have been played on local radio stations, and we hope to be heard nationally very soon.

Bio

Our battle cry mimics the words of the Apostle Paul found in the New Testament where Paul informs his readers that in every circumstance he becomes all things to all men in order that he might save some (1 Corinthians 9.22).

In the same way, in such a diverse and ever changing society, we as a band seek to do all that we can in order that the Gospel is preached in its entirety and that our listeners walk away with the greatest message known to man which is that Christ has the power and authority to forgive sin and impute His righteousness unto us to make us children of God.

It is interesting that the word Scapegoat is a term that is used in the book of Leviticus 16.26. The English definition of a “Scapegoat” is one who takes on or bears the blame undeservingly; meaning that the one who is taking the blame upon themselves is in reality innocent. In the Old Testament we have given to us a picture of a goat that was sent out of the camp of the Israelites with the sins of the people prayed upon it. This served as a symbol or depiction of the removal of sin from the nation of Israel by using the “Scapegoat” to take the sins away from or out of the camp. This symbol for the removal of sin was later demonstrated in the New Testament when Christ took center stage and bore the sin of the entire world upon His shoulders in a sense becoming our “Scapegoat”. Scripture says that “He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him,” speaking of none other than Christ Himself (2 Corinthians 5.21).
