"The Greasiest Funk Band in Chicago"

Built on a strong rhythm section and energetic work by their horns, Crystal Gravy earns their title of 'greasiest funk band in Chicago'.
Their recipe for funk--strong musicianship and original material, genuine enthusiasm for the genre and just a dash of covers--ensures that your feet are moving from the moment the drummer kicks it off.
As you listen, it becomes obvious that Crystal Gravy feels its groove and relishes it. Their sound floats somewhere between Herbie Hancock and the g-funk stylings of Nate Dogg (everyone says Dre, but Nate's albums always brought the funk); and excludes neither the purist nor the neophyte. Its original, fun and accessible.
When I saw them at Glunz Bavarian Haus, I left nodding my head and smiling; and have had their tracks (check out in my very-short playlist since the show. My favorites are 'The Trizzle' and 'Acid Gargle'.
If you like funk or just prefer your sounds a little 'greasy', then check out Crystal Gravy. - Chris Boulanger, Media Consultant/Critic

Crystal Gravy is the greasiest funk band in Chicago. Funky-ass drums, latin percussion, syncopated bass lines, and tasty guitar grooves add up to a thick rhythm section, while a three-part horn section brings real power to the melodies.
With creative original compositions that stem from influences as diverse as Jazz, R&B, Latin, Rock, Hip-Hop, Metal, and stay rooted in Bay Area and New Orleans Funk, this band keeps a sense of humor on stage and puts on a great show.
Since The Gravy started playing out, they have hit the stages of The Note, Heartland Cafe, Smoke Daddy, Elbo Room, Bird's Nest, Tonic Room, Wise Fools Pub, Hotti Biscotti, Goose Island Brewpub, Silvie's Lounge, Lilly's, Glunz Bavarian Haus, and many other venues in Chicago.
