Bio

Lead creative force behind the Halifax based pop/rock group Radio Jane, Crystal Robinson is now preparing to introduce her independent project. Having allowed her artistic maturity to blossom she will release her highly anticipated solo EP, Dream Come True (June 2011).

Feminine, progressive, introspective; these are all words to describe Crystal’s poetry-driven rock sound. With influences ranging from Tori Amos, Bat For Lashes, Jonsi to Fiona Apple, the music featured on this EP boasts both an eclectic nature and coherent thread. Though the writing process for Crystal's music begins on the keys of her piano, this collection of tracks feature heavy bass, ethereal electric guitar lines and plenty of surprises.

This upcoming introduction which features musician and producer, Andrew Tyne, breathes an electric energy into songs written from a place of self inflection that invites us all to take a second look, at ourselves and our relationships.

“Everyone has had they’re heart broken. Everyone has been angry and everyone has experienced a moment of peace within turmoil. So I think anyone can find a lyric to connect to in this collection of songs” says Crystal. “I do love playing live shows; capturing energy and connecting to people immediately is incredibly rewarding. Although, I think people will enjoy taking the EP home, throwing it in their car, spending some time with the poetry and with their personal memories it will evoke.”

Remembering love lost, day dreaming about life to be found and taking a moment to dance and sing it all out.

“Dream Come True” the first single from the EP holds a very special place in Crystal’s heart. “It was written early on in my writing career, but we’ve given it a new, lounge, tip hop vibe twist which I really love and hope the listener will as well.” Family, as well as romance have been two of Crystal’s greatest sources for lyrics, both which are highlighted in this sexy, reflective track. “I would like to think my music sounds ‘timeless’ in the sense that it sounds like it could have been made in any decade. I listen to a lot to Royksopp, Portishead, Goldfrapp. I like to listen to, and make music that creates something beautiful out of something painful, something to escape to.”
