Singer Songwriter Crystal Senter Brown is an East Tennessee Native and has been performing for the past 10 years.

Biography

In the early 1980’s, when most children living in Upper East Tennessee were huddled around Atari game systems and playing with Strawberry Shortcake dolls, 6 year old Crystal Senter Brown was sitting in a church basement, learning how to write and perform poetry and spoken word. By age 7, Crystal was sought out to travel to nearby events to sing and perform poetry from legends such as Langston Hughes and Maya Angelou.

Through the years Crystal has received several Massachusetts Artists grants, has been nominated for awards such as Spoken Word Artist of the Year (Urban Music Awards) and Singer/ Songwriter of the Year (Valley Advocate.) Crystal’s song “In the Dark” received honorable mention from the Billboard Music Song Awards and in 2006, Crystal was named as a Peacedriven Songwriter (Crystal’s song “Large and Lovely” placed in the top 40 out of thousands of entries.) Crystal’s music can be heard across the U.S. and abroad on commercial and college radio stations, as well as on many podcasts such as “Rockin Mom’s”

Large and Lovely

Large and Lovely
Do your thang girl
Sway and shake it baby
Show your stuff girl
All my big girls
stand up proud now
You’ve got it goin on
Say it loud now

She’s got braids down to her size 18 waist
Her Taste in music ranges from hip hop to R and B to Country to Rage
She’s just so, so lovely
But she doesent know what she has
All she has to offer

‘cause All her life she’s been large
and In charge of everything that is wonderful
Squeezing into seats much to small
She’s what most people would call a BBW
You know, a BBW meaning
Bodacious , Better
Bright, Bountiful
Busty
Buttery or Brown
Beautiful Black Woman

Repeat Chorus

Ooooo, How you sway and dance
On tune To the beat of the drum
You’re the one in the whole club
Having the most fun

No fad diets for you, baby
'cause You’ve been there, done that
You’re what most would call
Too big
But not you
You’re just large and in charge

And Your song isn’t comprised of thongs
And Halter tops
You top the list in class
'cause Your _______ doesn’t have to hang out to be noticed
Your smile can beckon any suitor you wish

(be)cause You’re so lovely
And so beautiful

So come on baby, Squeeze into those jeans,
Stretch the seams of that jean skirt,
Spread your wings, and take flight
Have him watching all night

Chorus

The girl with the plus size jeans
She’s got it
The girl with the college degree
She’s got it
The girl with such big dreams
She’s got it
She’s got it
She’s got it she’s so-
(Big beautiful woman, come on)

Chorus

End.

In the Dark

In the Dark
Written by: Crystal Senter Brown (ASCAP)

Music by: Jarreau Pitts

Chorus:

In the Dark
We don’t have nobody else
In the Dark
As long as don’t nobody tell
Your eyes don’t meet mine
And I know you’re so damn fine
So it’s me and you ‘till the end of time

Verse one:

He took my soul with his eyes
And I wanted to give him a try, see
I’d hear about all they said he had done
But I just wanted one more night of fun

So I called him, code 2245
And he answered, said hello baby, hi
Told me to meet him at nine
And wear that sexy black dress that he likes

So I bathed, scrubbed, straightened my hair
I sprayed my fragrance everywhere
Climb into my truck, put the music on
And the radio is playing our song.

~Chorus~

When he meets me he smells like cinnamon
And he knows what kind of mood he has put me in
When he looks like this in this hidden room
I don’t want to leave anytime soon

But we both know this just ain’t right
And when we go home, there’s gonna be teardrops and fights
So he drives away and the tears fall
‘cause I want him, or no one at all.

Repeat Chorus 2x

Real Men

Written By: Crystal Senter Brown

I know its not easy
loving me
with all my many mazes
maybe you wanna be free

I know you never envisioned
your life this way
a ready-made family
and kindergarten plays

You met me when
my heart was torn
my only child
was already born

Most men would’ve ran
but you chose to stay
that’s why I love you more and more
each and every day

Chorus:
Lets hear it for the real men
the stick around men
the men who stay around through thick and thin
the men you can count on
day or night
the men who won’t leave
even if we have a fight

Lets hear it for the real men
making bottles at 2 a.m.
standing strong
making us feel tall and proud
if you’ve got a real man
scream it now
scream it loud!

Verse 2

What I love most about you is
you don’t need Father’s day
to take time in the evenings
to sit with our son and play

When you teach him how to read
and tie his shoes
and that there are consequences
if he breaks the rules

He sees you leave for work
in your suit and tie
briefcase in hand
wide, bright, white smile

He knows the most important job
you could ever have
is not a CEO
it’s being a dad!

Repeat Chorus 2 x

Flirt

Written By: Crystal Senter Brown

Flirt
Crystal Senter Brown (words)
Jarreau Pitts (Music)

Your shoes are shined like brand new dimes
Hair shimmering with oil
Your skin is black like the night
Your teeth, little seashells, sweet and pure

You’re so smooth that the ocean follows you
Your mamba makes the whole world dance
I don’t know your name, but I know your (bus) stop
And the sounds of your gum pop-popping in my ear

Bridge
I just wish I could make time stand still
Long enough to feel the
Warmth of your body next to mine
‘cause baby you are
Soft like a chocolate cloud and
I want to say it loud that
I want to scoop you up and take you in

Chorus
I can’t wait until tomorrow or next week
What will it take for you to leave your seat
And walk to work with me
Flirt to work with me
Lets take a chance and see where this leads
Get to know me in the summer breeze, let’s walk

You don’t know me from anyone else
But in my mind you’re already mine
White picket fence, stock divends
Bushes trimmed and a Nanny named Kim

I know it’s crazy but it feels so strange
That I don’t even know your name
But I’m willing to take a chance this time
To see if you could really be mine

Bridge
I just wish I could make time stand still
Long enough to feel the
Warmth of your body next to mine
‘cause baby you are
Soft like a chocolate cloud and
I want to say it loud that
I want to scoop you up and take you in

Chorus
I can’t wait until tomorrow or next week
What will it take for you to leave your seat
And walk to work with me
Flirt to work with me
Lets take a chance and see where this leads
Get to know me in the summer breeze, let’s walk

I’m sorry but you can’t say no
I know you have place to go
It’s worth the risk to see if we fit
Maybe our walk will end with a kiss

So take my hand, the exit’s this way
I have a game I’d like to play
It’s called “Love” and how to tell if it’s true
If you don’t know what it is then you will real soon!

Bridge
I just wish I could make time stand still
Long enough to feel the
Warmth of your body next to mine
‘cause baby you are
Soft like a chocolate cloud and
I want to say it loud that
I want to scoop you up and take you in

Chorus
I can’t wait until tomorrow or next week
What will it take for you to leave your seat
And walk to work with me
Flirt to work with me
Lets take a chance and see where this leads
Get to know me in the summer breeze, let’s walk

Uh-huh., Oh yeahhhh!
