"Entrancing"

"Crystal Senter Brown's music is entrancing...She starts off
with a classy, yet catchy jazz beat to her music. She mixes
her spoken word with romance and real life situations, which
make her music very contemporary. Details captured by her
images, such as "coffee tastes so bitter, no pitter patter of our
baby's feet" in Change of Seasons (my favorite song!!!). The
register of her voice is very rich and diverse. Mojo is a
declaration of empowerment: the music in it is living proof of
loving yourself just the way you are, and following your
dreams (Large and Lovely).
The perfect gift for your lover, friend, or yourself..."
- Jennifer Melendez

"Nice Sound"

" You have a nice sound developing here....well written
structure...good use of imagery...(Large and Lovely) first line
makes me want to hear more...could be an anthem song
for 'Large and Lovely' ladies"

"Crystal Senter Brown MOJO"

"Her mix of Jazz and R&B beats and spoken words is very
pleasant because it pays attention to both sound quality and
poetry. But her sensitive lyrics also convey a simple
message: love yourself and your own body for what it can
do and how it makes you feel, not what it looks like."

Bio

In the early 1980’s, when most children living in Upper East Tennessee were huddled around Atari game systems and playing with Strawberry Shortcake dolls, 6 year old Crystal Senter Brown was sitting in a church basement, learning how to write and perform poetry and spoken word. By age 7, Crystal was sought out to travel to nearby events to sing and perform poetry from legends such as Langston Hughes and Maya Angelou.

Through the years Crystal has received several Massachusetts Artists grants, has been nominated for awards such as Spoken Word Artist of the Year (Urban Music Awards) and Singer/ Songwriter of the Year (Valley Advocate.) Crystal’s song “In the Dark” received honorable mention from the Billboard Music Song Awards and in 2006, Crystal was named as a Peacedriven Songwriter (Crystal’s song “Large and Lovely” placed in the top 40 out of thousands of entries.) Crystal’s music can be heard across the U.S. and abroad on commercial and college radio stations, as well as on many podcasts such as “Rockin Mom’s”

Crystal is celebrating the release of her book “Doubledutch- the collected poems and short stories of Crystal Senter Brown.” Doubledutch is already receiving rave reviews from the poetic community including legend NIkki Giovanni.

Crystal’s website is www.crystalsenterbrown.com and she can be reached by emailing crystal@crystalsenterbrown.com.

THIS JUST IN! Crystal has released a new book of poetry "Doubledutch" - NIKKI GIOVANNI calls it "A book every young woman should read"
