CS Nielsen (b. 1977) is a Danish songwriter, singer and guitarist. His music reflects an itching fascination of stripped-down melancholy, dark Americana mythology and spiritual longings in a blend of folk, alt. country, roots, blues and spirituals. Since 1994, CS has continued to perform his songs in various venues in Denmark and abroad from prisons to churches, festivals, clubs, etc.
CS Nielsen's debut album "Against the Dying of the Light" came out in 2007 on independent Danish record label Songcrafter Music. The album got nominated for two Danish Music Awards: Folk Debut and Country Album of the Year. CS is in the process of recording his next album, which will be released later 2010.
Influences: The mysteries of life, music, literature, film, art, history, myth and theology. Harry Smith's Anthology of American Folk Music, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Townes Van Zandt, Robert Johnson, Hank Williams, Elvis Presley, Woody Guthrie, Lead Belly, Gillian Welch and many, many more.
