Bio

A Franco-American duo for a crowd thirsty for live music
CTBAB (Cary T. Brown & Aurlien Boilleau)
Harmony, harmony, harmony...
-Harmony of two voices; one is a little deeper and slightly raspy with a grain of hardly noticeable maturity the other is younger, high and soft at the same time, a voice that entangles with the delicate touch of an instrumentalist, fine and accurate.
-Of course it seems at first that the lead singer is Cary, yet, if you listen a little closer, the melody would'nt be as interestiong without the high flying spirals of Aurelien's voice that become one with Cary's. Together, the two know how to add different colors to their collection of experiences and offer intimate feelings to their audience.
-Harmony between two musicians
Both play the acoustic guitar but each has his own style, Cary sets the rhythm and tempo, a sweet swing full of emotion. Overall, the songs are soft slices of life, but
never plunge the public into melancholy. Aurlien brings harmony and melody without overdoing it. It's never in the The Rock 'n' Roll Hero attitude. One can sense his technical mastery of the instrument yet this is quickly forgotten leaving only emmotions that go under your skin. An emotion that awakens memories: This harmony, vocal and instrumental, the same as the one that was the trademark of the trio Crosby, Still & Nash on their debut album in 1969. A nice reference that comes to mind
-Harmony between the voices and instruments, the balance is natural and seems to be established in absolute spontaneity. Here also, there is no excess performance to disturb the musical voyage where the listener is taken by the hand and the heart.
-Harmony of the influences that mingle, Aurlien has put the rock in Cary's Country, and Cary has invited his Folk into Aurlien's Rock. The result is an 'Urban Folk' all their own, with their own unique sound, which speaks to the people, people with sensitive ears, that don't need references, or a particular passion for Country Music, no, this is the music of cities that were once fields, a music for the simple things in life, all lives.
-Harmony in the difference between two personalities, which goes beyond their dissimilarities, from their communion on stage, the rhythmic syncronisation of their movements, to their delivery in tandem. These two did not need to sell out to find their resonanting point. Their differences of age and origin do not disappear, but work together, just as differences in education and personal experiences strengthen a team. Just like the same soft smile lights up their faces.
-They met in Alsace, France where Cary recorded a solo album with a country folk feel, "The Full Moon Files. It was as a musician that Aurlien was asked to participate on the recording. Immediately, the two musicians realised that there was a sort of magic in their collaboration. Within a few days they spontaneously composed five or six songs. Aurlien's harmonic proposals made it easy for Cary to write lyrics, their voices molded together without forcing, without calculated placement, without intentions... The duo was born like that, that's all. They didn't even look for a name for the formation, they simply put their names, in the same way as they combined their personalities.
The identity of the duo has been forged on the road, they have already played more than 500 concerts together.
-Their musical influences, the music they love? The answer is unanimous: Eclectic, they are children of the radio! If Cary was rocked in the craddle by country legends, they find common ground on the some musical references, from AC/DC to Sound Garden, passing through Fleetwood Mac, and Pink Floyd... What moves them: a good chorus, good lyrics, and as in folk music, the fact that the guitar and the vocals are self-sufficient. Composition and writing are their common denominators, they compose together.
Their onstage presence reflects simple melody and harmony.
Their album, "Good Day, Bad Day" features drums, bass and keyboard with accordion and cello that enrich the palette of emotions.
However, on stage, the duo version, purified, does not lack in energy.
And for this, bravo A formation to follow.
