Every A&R scout spends hours of their day routing through truckloads of shit demos just to discover a band like Curerbell. ‘Waiting For The World’ is quite simply a breath of crisp fresh air, so much so that it’s actually difficult to believe that you’re not listening to a commercial release.
The title track and ‘There’s a Fire’ are the best of the bunch, showing a tougher edge to the band and allowing them to rock out more. There are echoes of fallen indie nippers Thirteen:13 in the winsome vocals of frontman Kevin Jones, however the music has a grittier, more melancholic edge to it. The remaining tracks (‘Origami’ and ‘I Could Cry’) are world weary ballads which betray their influences – Kent and Coldplay are obvious reference points – without ever obviously fleecing from them. There are even a couple of cute lyrical nods to Catatonia and Ben E King’s classic ‘Stand By Me’ thrown in for good measure.
With a decent budget behind them, Curerbell could be fighting it out with bands like Haven and Electric Soft Parade in the indie rock championship. Their time in the spotlight is surely just around the corner. - Drowned In Sound

Curerbell are a three piece from Llanelli / Swansea in south Wales. For the past six years Curerbell have played and recorded some of the most basic, yet anthemic songs in the indie arena and continue to gain new fans world wide... Limited edition and self-funded EP This Used To Be A Happy Place was recorded in June 2005 working with producer Tim Hamill and drummer Aled Richards - of former welsh chart toppers Catatonia. Acts Curerbell have supported include; David Devant And His Spirit Wife, Jeff Klein, Fields and Hard-Fi. Curerbell's last demo Waiting For The World was featured on BBC Radio Ones unsigned website, getting praise from Radio 1 DJ Edith Bowman. Luke Steele of The Sleepy Jackson has also expressed his fondness of Curerbell's music. Curerbell's sound is fresh, anthemic, melodious, catchy music, just how music should be. Comparisons have been made to the likes of Travis, Coldplay and Ash, which is fine, but the sound and style of Curerbell is distictive and unique. Following in the footsteps of welsh greats such as Manic Street Preachers, Super Furry Animals, and now filling the space that Catatonia left. Curerbell - Giving you the social melodies you need.
