Bio
Formed in 2007, Cuidado has been touring and playing the Pittsburgh scene with its intense, lyrical, and always genuine, tango music. Touring as far east as Wisconsin, this band has seen and experienced its ups and downs. Although members have changed over time, the dedication to the music has not. When listening to the music one can hear the humanity loud and clear. With original intentions as only a dance band, the group Cuidado has matured over time with increased concert repertoire including pieces by the master himself, Astor Piazzolla, as well as original compositions in the tango idiom.
One distinct aspect of the bands sound is its deep roots in varying styles. Call it tango fusion if you will. Jazz improvisation is a key factor in the groups sound. The music is always spontaneous and sometimes even ferocious, but it is never performed the same way twice. With classically trained players in the band, you can expect virtuosic and emotional playing consistently. Including tinges of latin and eastern European sounds as well, this bands kaleidoscope of sounds are truly one of a kind.
Cuidado has performed master classes and milongas all over Pennsylvania including colleges such as Youngstown, Duquesne, Kent State, and Penn State University.
