Bio

This Vancouver Canada based rock band has found support from Canadian music legend Randy Bachman who has signed them to his label Ranbach Music Ltd. They produce a sound that has been described as “Bowie/Led Zeppelin/Nine Inch Nails” (quote: Universal/Maple Music).

cultureDef are currently blippin' the radar screens of Mr Ridley Scott who is considering two cuts from their upcoming debut album for a new 'Blade Runner' style movie. Movie directors seem to really dig the band's Action Thriller sound and they actually made it to the final cut of songs selected for the movie Mission Impossible 3, sadly losing the opportunity when the shows producers decided to go with a Danny Elfman score.

The outfit delivers a distinctly original sound which is both heavy and light at the same time. “Intensely upbeat, like a spiritual rave, is how we get pegged’, says Graham. “We all come from a musical background where the Beatles form the baseline, with bands like Radiohead and Nirvana acting as the multiplier. It’s all about the song – we have great players here, but it’s the song that comes first." Adding to that is Zufo, "If you listen to a song like ‘(Flames of the) Inner Sun’, you hear end-of-the-world guitars sustaining vocals that proclaim the possibility of the world being saved by the love-power of any one individual. It’s quite amazing”.

The band has caught the attention of Universal Records/Maple Music with Mr. Bachman forming the frontline in deal negotiations. As of the moment, the band is in pre-production with Bachman working on their 15 song album-demo, while rehearsing for their FV22 (Fantastic Voyage22) show at the HR Macmillan Planetarium on April 22/07
