Bio

Ryan Botha's departure from established Indonesian band 'Self Control' found him in Perth, Western Australia, collaborating with local musicians Robin Winter (Drums), James White (Bass) and Jim Garret (Guitar) they soon formed the outfit that is known today as Cupidfalls. Rounding out their line-up in 2011 with newly added screaming vocalist Dave Lee, they came together to create the lively and enthusiastic pop-punk hardcore band with a dream to make music and tour the world. The band swiftly entered the studio and endured hours of hard practice whilst laying down numerous rough demo tracks. This however, was only the beginning of CUPIDFALLS.

The band has performed numerous times at some of Perth’s leading venues such as “The Rocket Room”, “The Rosemount”, “Black Betty’s” and “Amplifier Bar” and “Capitol”. Having also shared stages with popular national acts such as “The Getaway Plan”, “Heroes For Hire”, “I Am Villain”, “The Sunny Side Up” and “For Our Hero”, CUPIDFALLS definitely has what it takes to put on an electrifying performance and capture an audience.

With only a few people in the club, Cupidfalls came out to a frankly lackluster crowd, which is actually a crying shame as they were probably the most energetic act of the night. The band fits into that weird genre that a lot of bands are trying to emulate: a pop/punk style of band but with a screamer as well, although they have much catchier vocals and crushing breakdowns. The band ironically reminds me of very early Getaway Plan, displaying the same sort of musical roots that Getaway once did back when they were a hardcore band. The band just returned from a few shows in Asia and have developed a very tight stage presence; seeing them is like watching a performance that has been perfected over hundreds of shows. I would be interested to see the band again to see if there is any change from the rock solid performance that I witnessed last night. This band brings back fond memories of listening to The Getaway Plans EP in a friends garage back in 2006 and I get the feeling that in a few years this band will be in the same position that Getaway is now, and I will no doubt be there watching it happen. - Michael Hilliard, Colosoul.com.au (Capitol)

Cupidfalls were selected from over 700 bands from across Australia to be a part of the top 10 finalists in Nova FM's, "I Am With The Band" competition. CUPIDFALLS were then aired daily on national television during prime time viewing and performed at Fremantle’s Prison for the competition's showcase, which was covered a broadcast live on Nova 93.7FM. Having been interviewed by Channel 11 and Nova Fm, CUPIDFALLS have made their debut on Australian Television and have built a national fan base.

On April 1st 2011, the guys made their way to Sydney, New South Wales, to commence recording their debut EP "Dancing In Distortion" with popular Engineer / Producer Sonny Truelove (Angelas Dish, Before Their Eyes) at STL Studio. The album was then mixed by Sonny and mastered by Troy Glessner (Anberlin, MXPX, Underoath, Aiden) of Spectre Studios in the USA. Since their return to Perth, their tracks “Drive Away” and “My July” have been in high rotation on Perth's punk/hardcore radio station Anarchy On Air 89.7FM, and has been one of their highest requested tracks to date.

In November 2011, CUPIDFALLS departed for Jakarta, Indonesia to headline popular annual music festival "Urbanfest". Sharing the stage with bands from Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore, CUPIDFALLS received an overwhelming response from a crowd of thousands of new fans, and left them hungry to make their mark on the rest of the world..

CUPIDFALLS has come a long way in what has been little over a year since the band formed. This is a credit to the member’s individual successes as musicians in the local scene, and with their persistence and determination they hope to further their dreams while dropping into breakdowns and moving audiences with their infectious live performances.
