Bio

2010 was a busy year for Edinburgh based four piece Curators. Since recording their self-funded debut album “Is This A Private Fight?” at Tape studio in Leith, the band have featured on both national and independent radio (including Radio1), gigged with Wintersleep, Dinosaur Pile-Up, Pulled Apart By Horses and The Primitives to name but a few, filmed a promo video with Altar Motive Films and received glowing reviews for their unashamedly hook laden yet somehow distinctly Scottish, noisy pop songs.

“Is This A Private Fight?” featured highly in several writers’ albums of 2010 lists, including a number 3 in the Jockrock’s rundown, a number 5 from Kowalskiy and a number 9 from Is This Music?.

These achievements have come from hard work, dedication, and an understanding that the music industry has been blown wide open. Working as part of the Edinburgh Anti Manifesto collective, the band pride themselves on their self-sufficiency, retaining control of their own music without the pressures of a label or management company. In an era where the cliched sound of punk may be dead, its self-reliant ethics and DIY approach still thrive in those willing to work.

Curators’ debut album “Is This A Private Fight?” can be streamed in its entirety on both Spotify and Bandcamp (http://curators.bandcamp.com/).
