Bio

Curly and The Rocket is deliciously big sound: orchestrations dynamic enough to excite a rock stadium, with the immediacy to stoke up a country jukejoint. They've managed to capture the essence of rock and roll in a tightly packed male/female duo, maximizing the basics of sheer talent and raw effort with tasteful innovation and savvy efficiency. The result is an an act whose rare originality is riveting and totally inspiring.

The Washington D.C. based couple are veterans at their craft. Since 1999 they've been relying on their musical versatility, scoring for award winning television programs, national commercials and radio spots with their own company, Burning Barn Sound & Music, LLC. As performing musicians, they've opened for national acts such as They Might Be Giants and Fountains of Wayne. In 2006 and again in 2008, Curly (Adrienne Penebre) was recognized with an Artist Fellowship from the Washington DC Arts and Humanities for the merit of her musical artistic achievements.

In 2005 the couple created Curly and The Rocket as an outlet for their love of rock and roll and live performance. The act features Adrienne Penebre, “Curly,” the heroine who wrangles a drum kit while wailing and whispering in song. The “Rocket” is Pete Penebre, whose blistering guitar charges their sound with focused aggression. Curly's role fronting the band on drums and vocals is proving to be the WOW factor that is instantly appealing, wins avid fans of all ages, and defines them as truly unique. Their talent and originality has earned them coveted spots and worldwide opportunities.

In 2007, Curly and The Rocket were selected by CMEAS, an England based music promotion company, for a three week tour in the UK . That same year they were accepted into the Armed Forces Entertainment program, which send artists to perform for troops throughout the world. Closer to home, they perform at local and regional festivals and clubs. Most recently they were met with industry accolades as showcase performers at the 2008 annual Dewey Beach Music Conference, a gathering of music artists and professionals from the U.S. Mid Atlantic region.

Their future goals include teaming up with experienced industry professionals to help promote their unique brand to a wider audience. And they look forward to more opportunities to play high quality shows both at home and internationally.

As the only members in a two-man band, they’ve discovered membership does have its privileges: a shared long term commitment, less gear to transport, and they get to sleep in the same bed. They’re married, after all. And that’s making band life remarkably simple.
