Discography

Fight Fair (2010) - Debut solo album - Fight Fair is a collection of 12 engaging songs that cover a range of musical genres and emotions in an acoustic feel. They are songs that sound familiar, but still fresh & vibrant. Never failing to touch a nerve, raise an eyebrow or a smile or have you singing along after the first chorus. Curly’s tolerably intolerant views of the ways of the world will have you pondering deeply. From the haunting pulsing bass of opening track, “Save my soul,” to the deep darkness & reggae groove “The Happy Song” or the Beatlesque love song “Being with you”, exquisite production highlights the lyrical and melodic beauty of these tunes you won’t be able to get out of your head. Add to this blend the superb backing vocals from Paul Norton & the divine Miss Wendy Stapleton, you have an irresistible mix that will captivate from the first listen and for many more over time.

Bio

Curly Joe is singer / songwriter Neil Wise from Melbourne, Australia. An engaging acoustic artist, with eclectic influences from Beatles through the singer / songwriters of the Bob Dylan, Paul Simon & Paul Kelly ilk, to newer artists like Jack Johnson, Carus Thompson & Pete Murray.
Insightful but tolerably intolerant views of the world inside Curly’s head. Folk-rock songs or storytelling with attitude are the centrepiece of Curly Joe sets. Lyrically intriguing with melodic and memorable choruses, provide an entrancing experience with stories of life & love & the people (especially women) that he struggles to understand.
Acoustic Guitar, mandolin & harmonicas bring these songs a vibrant and uplifting experience. Playing at 2009 Queenscliff Music Festival in “Telstra Road to Tamworth” heat, 2011 Australian Songwriters Showcase @ Tamworth Country Music Festival and also performing supports for major Australian Artists such as James Reyne, Rose Tattoo, Don Walker, Colin Hay & The Angels.
He is performing regularly in Melbourne venues & local festivals and continuing to write new & dynamic material.
His debut solo album “Fight Fair”, produced by renowned Australian artist Paul Norton was released July 2010, a set with Curly Joe is an experience not to be missed.
