Bio

Currents began with one idea in mind: musical creativity without restraint. In 2005 these six experienced musicians regrouped to reinvent themselves with a fresh voice, to breathe life into a music scene that has become stale. Currents, hailing from the infamous indie music scene of Gainesville, FL, has all the vitality of an enthusiastic new rock band with the industry know-how and touring experience of seasoned veterans.

Jeremy Robertson and Dave McNally, Guitar, and Thomas Rankine, Bass, worked alongside Dave Miller under the former name, Salem. Their album, "Love It or Leave Me", was released on Fiddler Records in 2003. As Salem they performed at the widely renowned Vans Warped Tour and Surf & Skate Festival as well as appearing on national tours with bands like Brand New, The Movie Life, Finch, and Further Seems Forever.

While Currents was creating demo material in 2005, Thomas Rankine filled in playing bass for Further Seems Forever touring through the U.S, Japan and europe. Dave Miller traded his drumsticks to take center-stage as Currents' lead vocalist and the band sanctioned the addition of Ryan Williams on drums and Matt Finch on the keyboard.

With Miller soulfully delivering Currents' passionate vocals, each track resounds as a perfect blending of rhythm and heart. In songs like "Willful Steps" and "Delta Hand", ambient keys provide a melodic backdrop for Currents' signature relentless drum beats and driving bass lines. Robertson and McNally don't disappoint, contributing intricate guitar work soaked in reverb and delay. The result is a sound reminiscent of bands like the Chameleons and U2, which makes it easy to see why Currents is already receiving national attention
