Biography

KidsLive’s first CD takes the fun of the kid-driven live experience and puts some serious musical power behind it, debuting Curtis Childs (vocals, guitar), Luke Howard (drums, vocals), and the Oak Arbor kids (singing/yelling). Reade McCardell (guitar, vocals) takes a first foray into the world of kids’ music. His band Fresh Cut Salads’ album Vitamin Sea was mixed by Shelly Yakus, his solo album is currently being produced by Philadelphia’s Ivan Funk, and his runner up video in Aimee Mann’s “Freeway” contest was referenced by Mann in an interview with David Dye on WXPN. Local musician Randy Wagner (bass) lends a dynamic, pumping foundation for each track. Jim Verdeur (bass harmonica), is a multi-instrument performer who has shared the stage with, among many others, the mighty Devo. His most recent publication was a drum set instructional book with Carl Fisher Publications, and he is also a regionally endorsed artist with Yamaha Musical Instruments. Produced by Edwin Herder, whose Fendertones project has been viewed more than 260,000 times worldwide and received kudos from members of Brian Wilson’s band, the album has a tight, fresh, rock-driven sound that is sure to appeal to little kids, big kids, and parents alike.

Big Things Ahead

Written By: Curtis Childs

I’ve got, big things ahead of me
I’ve got, big things ahead of me
I’ve got, big things ahead of me
I’ve got, big things ahead of me

Somebody said first is the worst, and second is the best
So in the first verse we say no, and in the second we say yes

Hello, I am me, and I am 10 years old
And that’s just the right age to be, so, so
Are you afraid? No I am not afraid!
Are you alone? No I am not alone!
Are you strange? No I am not strange!
Are you Styrofoam? No I’m not Styrofoam!
Are you wrong? No I am not wrong!
Are you bad? No I am not bad!
Are you too small? No I’m not too small!
Are you sad? No I am not sad!

Actually, I’m doing just fine
And I’ve got, big things ahead of me
I’ve got, big things ahead of me
I’ve got, big things ahead of me
I’ve got, big things ahead of me

Somebody said first was the worst, and second is the best
So in the first verse we say no, and in the second we say yes

Hello, I am me, and I am 8 years old
And that’s just the right age to be, so, so
Are you great? Yes I am so great!
Are you cool? Yes I am so cool!
Are you awesome? Yes I am so awesome!
Are you a dancing fool? Yes I am a dancing fool!
Go!

Are you smart? Yes I am so smart!
Are you strong? Yes I am so strong!
Are you nice? Yes I am so nice!
Are you singing an awesome song? Yes I’m singing an awesome song!

I’m fine
And this child of God has got
Big things ahead of me
I’ve got, big things ahead of me
I’ve got, big things ahead of me
I’ve got, big things ahead of me
Oh yeah

The Great Big Person

Written By: Curtis Childs

Everybody’s part of the great big person
Everybody’s part of the world
Everybody’s part of the great big person
Everybody’s part of the world
So don’t you wanna
So don’t you wanna
So don’t you wanna hang out?
So don’t you wanna
So don’t you wanna
So don’t you wanna hang out?

Cause I am just your legs
And you are just my arms
And everybody just wants to stay cool when it gets too warm
Some people live up in a mountain
Or out across the ocean
Whether a car or a bike or a camel is you primary means of locomotion
I am just your legs
You are just my arms
The farms need the cities and the cities need the farms

Because Everybody’s part of the great big person
Everybody’s part of the world
Everybody’s part of the great big person
Everybody’s part of the world
So don’t you wanna
So don’t you wanna
So don’t you wanna hang out?
So don’t you wanna
So don’t you wanna
So don’t you wanna hang out?

So when I think, we think
And when I do, we do
It is so great to be me
Especially when I see you
Cause you are just my heart
And I am just your brain
And when I feel good
I just want you to feel the same

Because Everybody’s part of the great big person
Everybody’s part of the world
Everybody’s part of the great big person
Everybody’s part of the world
So don’t you wanna
So don’t you wanna
So don’t you wanna hang out?
So don’t you wanna
So don’t you wanna
So don’t you wanna hang out?

Everybody’s part of the great big person
Everybody’s part of the world
Everybody’s part of the great big person
Everybody’s part of the world

That's What I See

Written By: Curtis Childs

hey, you, are another me
just trying your best
and that’s what I see
hey, you, are another me
just trying your best
and that’s what I see
because we all just all just all just all just want love
and we are just all just all just all just made out of love
despite confusion

Well I was walking down the street toward my friend J’s backyard area
But when I got there all my friends were freaking out, it was hysteria
See there was this halfpipe in his backyard that we all loved to skate
But it seems somebody had busted up the railing on the back, oh great
J was getting mad, and we didn’t know who did it, or what to do
When some fingers started pointing at a kid named Drew
He said alright, I admit it, I did it, I’m sorry I didn’t try
J and those guys started to yell and Drew was just about to cry
He said it had happened when we left, he was the last one out that day
He leaned his hand on the railing when he got up to get down and bam, that railing just gave way
The other dudes were livid, but I thought hey, what if that was me?
I leaned on that railing all the time but just got let off easier by gravity
So I looked at Drew for a minute and thought about what it would be like to be in his head
And I realized that he could easily be me, so I looked at him and I said

hey, you, are another me
just trying your best
and that’s what I see
hey, you, are another me
just trying your best
and that’s what I see
because we all just all just all just all just want love
and we are just all just all just all just made out of love, oh yeah
