Blazing a trail through this rap game Cynical Dialogue aka “Smurk” is making his mark on Houston ’s rap scene. The soul born to Dwight and Ruth Allen some years ago still to this day remains a treasure. Dwight Allen discovered music was an outlet in the early stages of his life.

More so than any other music since the blues, hip-hop is all about stories. And its stories are both criminal minded and grand, making them enthralling and unbelievable, but also making them only as interesting and convincing as the teller. Listening to his first MC’s as if God himself was speaking, Smurk began writing his own lyrics and instantly knew this was his calling.
Some years later Smurk began performing at various clubs throughout Texas, where he met and connected with other rap artist thus sharpening his lyrical sword and emerging into what we know today as a true and living hip-hop artist.
A long road traveled, Smurk released his first album in 2000 titled Cynical Dialogue “Born into It”. With the help of Anthony Frazier of High Volume Music Smurk began to generate a buzz with the hit singles “Hot Spot” and “Mash”, which afforded him a solid foundation in the Houston community and in addition an excellent review by Murder Dog magazine and hitting the billboard charts.
Smurk is currently in the studio perfecting his sophomore album a release on the Hard Edge Entertainment label. His expectations for this have remained the same over the years, as he quotes “I will remain consistent is bringing the head banging funk, period.” Smurk’s next single “ Ride or Roll” promises to set the pace for hip-hop in coming years. The product of his unrelenting drive, talent and, frankly, his real-ness, Smurk’s new album promises to do for him just what it says. With his infectious flow and lyrical talent, there is no doubt that Smurk was definitely BORN INTO IT!
