Cynic Guru is lead by frontman Roland Hartwell, violinist with The Iceland Symphony Orchestra. Fusing elements of rock, pop, and alternative heavy metal, Hartwell frightens audience members with his possessed shredding of the electric violin. Navigating through odd twists and unexpecting turns, Cynic Guru always leaves its listeners numb and wondering "What just happened". In 2005, Cynic Guru were signed by Iceland's biggest record company SENA. Soon afterwards, they were signed by England's groundbreaking Indie Record label FAT NORTHERNER RECORDS, and embarked on two UK tours. Soon after THAT, Cynic Guru were signed by Japan's WESTWOOD RECORDS, and released their first cd in Japan entitled "CYNIC GURU". In 2009, Cynic Guru were asked to perform in Tbilisi, Georgia at the ALTERVISION MUSIC FESTIVAL, and as a result were signed to the STEP RECORDS label, as well as a return tour to Georgia later that year. Cynic Guru are in the midst of releasing their second cd in Iceland.
