Bio

North Carolina award winning neo soul gospel star, songwriter, producer Cynthia Jones has been doing her thing from the time she wrote and composed her first song in high school, to releasing her first album in 1999 "Almost Midnight" on her own label "Angel Dove Records".

While creating a buzz in the industry, she picked up the title throughout the Carolinas as one of the hardest working women in gospel, releasing two more albums on her label.

By 2008 she caught the attention of, and is currently on Kingdom Records, which is home to #1 billboard charting and Gold selling artist "Shekinah Glory Ministry" for her earthy, organic style of gospel music.

Her music had a bold blend of Neo Soul with a twist of Jazz, and her voice was simply arresting with a mix of Erykah Badu, Billie Holiday, and Jill Scott.

The industry dubbed her as the Erykah Badu of gospel, and in 2011 when she released her current 18 track masterpiece "Journey of Soul", it was obvious that Cynthia Jones was no longer appealing to just a church audience.

In fact she is known as one of the baddest neo soul gospel artist who's music and message has gone far beyond the church walls, receiving an array of awards and nominations in 2012, starting with three Grammy nods for Best Contemporary R&B Gospel, Best Performance, and Best Song, to receiving Radio Ones' Heritage Award, and The North Carolina Prestige Award for Female Gospel/Jazz Vocalist of the Year.

Cynthia has shared the stage with Kirk Frank, Fred Hammond Martha Munizzi, and many other gospel heavy hitters as well as with non gospel artist such as blues legend Bobby Rush. She is currently touring, sharing the stage with world renowned Jazz artist Ben Tankard. They did a sweet collaboration on his current “Full Tank” CD which features jazz greats Gerald Albright, Tim Bowman, Mark Kibble of Take 6 and Ms Cynthia Jones herself, singing a remake one of her hit songs “Something About That Name” from her 2008 Gotta Soul CD.

This musical marriage has broaden her already diverse audience to a much larger fanbase, with a mixture of neo soul and Jazz music lovers from all walks of life that simply love, respect, and appreciate the musical integrity and lyrical honesty that’s found in her music.

So if you are looking for gospel, and you love the neo soul style of Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, India Arie, then you're gonna to love Cynthia Jones, she IS the baddest neo soul gospel artist around.
