Bio
Cynthia Long is a songwriter, poet, published novelist, playwright and actress. She is also a gifted mystic who has the capacity to open and receive guidance from a realm of higher wisdom. This guidance speaks in a number of forms, including a huge body of oracular poetry, healing music in a range of genres, and personal transmissions, chants and meditations.
Cynthia’s intuited, or alchemical songs have been performed in venues as diverse as the 08 Ottawa Folk Festival, the Toronto Rehab Stroke Unit, International Women’s Day at the Glenn Gould Studio, the Leila Festival, Chester Village Nursing Home, Toronto Argonaut Rowing Club, Peace Building Symposium at OISE, Sananda Yoga Studio’s Solstice Celebrations, Greenhope for Peace Rawandan Orphan fund-raiser, the Toronto Unitarian Congregation, the University of Toronto, the Tikkun Toronto Conference - Building Bridges, Spiritual Politics and Reconciliation, Chapters Runnymede Bookstore, Universal Light Centre, Etobicoke Civic Centre Art Gallery with the Once Around the Sun Artist Collective, City TV’s Ann Rohmer Show, the Ontario Ministry of the Environnment’s Wellness Day, the Koffler Institute Evening of Engagement for Peace in the Middle East, the Say No to War Peace Rally in Nathan Phillips Square, Holy Joes, the Free Times Café, the New Directions Centre for Women and many more. Cynthia was a nominee in the World Music category of the Ontario Independent Music Awards 08.
To be in the presence of these received melodies in performance brings healing to sensitive souls. Listeners have spoken of light-headedness, chills, and tears, and that they find themselves compelled to listen to songs over and over, sometimes while they sleep. Fans range from the very young and adolescents, to those in mid life, to the aged.
On this EPK you will find songs recorded with the Healing Divas and co-produced by Graham Shaw of Spies and Cynthia, as well as songwriter demos. The EXTRAORDINARY WOMEN CD is available through CD Baby; Cynthia is presently at work on a solo CD out of Kanda K studios.
