"When a band records I usually cant wait for it to be over. However, you guys are a lot of fun and you've got a good thing going with your music. Songs are nice and tight. They are also diverse styles, but still sound like you."

Bio
The Cypress Groove Project is an American rock and originals band out of Chicago, born of the music that migrated here from the Mississippi Delta; born of swamp and red clay, of sweat and hard living, of cigarettes and alcohol, of mean mistreatin' women and lyin' no good men.
The band was forged at a Chicago jam night, where frontman Johnny Spiz and slide guitar player Chuck Wasserburg discovered a mutual kinship in their admiration for artists like Elmore James, Hound Dog Taylor, Johnny Winter and Rory Gallagher. And Chuck's slide playing was perfectly suited for originals like Johnny's "Shacked Up in Mississippi".
Together with versatile and hard workin' guitarist Steve Torres; drummer Dave Behringer, a solid veteran of the rock and blues music scene in Chicago and the East Coast; and bassist Al Meakens, whose melodic bass lines are steeped in rock, gospel and blues, the Cypress Groove Project is a powerhouse live band.
CGP has created a swampy rock feel infused with individual band member influences that range from blues and soul to funk and alt country--what we like to call American Fusion.
Whether its a festival, a drinking establishment or a private performance, their set list is custom made to get folks swinging and grooving.
