"“Rolling Stones” is a piece of music capable of hitting the streets as well as the pop charts!"

Da Rookiez has dropped the track, “Rolling Stones” off Loner Trials EP. This is a single truly loved because it is understandable regardless of the beat, the words, and the pictures presented. The reason this is one of my favorite hip-hop singles of 2016 so far, is how they use their music to create such an intoxicating and hypnotic atmosphere.

This track bangs the whole way through and I believe that it will age even better like a fine wine over time, as the eclectic lyrics and names dropped in the song will remain legendary forever. Even the way they end “Rolling Stones” leaves you with no doubt that he will continue to release fire in the future. - Buddy Nelson

"Audio: Da Rookiez – LMAO"

[ATLANTA, GEORGIA] Da Rookiez are at it with their latest single titled LMAO. Have you ever laughed out loud and couldn’t contain yourself? Especially when its over peoples dumb shit. Da Rookiez consists of two brothers (Grant and Keon) who are originally from Portsmouth, Va. Both dealing with dramatic passes with traveling from home-to-home, witnessing drug and domestic abuse, losing their closest friends to gun violence, and even their cousin who was apart of Da Rookiez Tavarius Hall. The funky beat was produced by Trey Pound. LMAO is filled with lyrical and tricky play on words. - Nikki Siix

Bio

2 Up (Jaquan Grant) and Keon Great (Keon Grant) form the dynamic triumvirate music group, Da Rookiez. Coming from Portsmouth, VA, they were all introduced to music at a young age. Keon (Keon Great) began rapping at the tender age of 7. Later, Jaquan (2 Up) followed at the age of 9. Together, the brothers quickly amazed local friends and other individuals in their community. The duo soon formed a group in Virgina along with older cousin Jerome Grant, and friends Shaun, Demarco, Tyme, and Anthony Mcnair. After the tragic loss of group member Anthony Mcnair due to a shooting accident (at the time he was only 16), Jaquan and Keon moved shortly after to Laurinburg, NC, where they met up with cousin Tavarius Hall (T.Hall). Suffering with the grief from the tragic loss of a friend, Keon Great gave up rapping while 2 Up continued to pursue his life-long dream. While recording his album, 2 Up realized it didn't feel right to rap without Keon Great alongside him. Although it was difficult to convince Keon Great to begin rapping again, he was quickly motivated to place his thoughts on a pad when he realized he had to live his life and chase his dreams in honor of his deceased friend, Anthony. In 2008 brothers Jaquan "2 up" Grant and Keon "Great" Grant, along with their cousin Tavarius "T.hall" Hall created a group called Nu Aira, which they later changed the name to "Da Rookiez". The trio was a great combination of talent, creativity and skill. They soon faced tragedy when member T.hall suffered an unexpected death due to an Undiagnosed heart condition at the tender age of 17, just two weeks before their big premier show, leaving Great and 2 up behind hurt. The two soon recovered from the grievance of losing a family member and continued to work on their musical career; and has now found stability within their lives and their careers. In 2015, Jaquan and Keon Grant started their own record label called R.O.E. Records LLC (Real Original Entertainment). They continue to make music, inspiring the youth to dive deep within the unknown, to achieve their goals, and to exceed over any expectation that anyone has for them, while having a good time doing it.
