Let's call it Sub-Urban Brazilian Music, Indie-Ragga or Sub-Bass-Afrofunk, what Da Cruz from Bern is offering. For the third album the band with the Brazilian singer Mariana Da Cruz and the ex-Swamp Terrorists Shouter Ane H. has just signed a contract with the American label Six Degrees Records. It will be released worldwide in the beginning of May 2011.

The label from San Francisco was responsible for the big success of artists such as Bebel Gilberto and CéU an it is the American label heritage of bands like The Dø, Michael Franti or The Orb.

In the self-confident dealing with its cultural diversity, the sound of Da Cruz is comparable with acts such as MIA or Ebony Bones. And the worldwide interest in the band is huge: Da Cruz plays in the hottest clubs between London and Sao Paulo, Paris and Berlin.

Some exemples: Elysée Montmartre, La Bellevilloise, Batofar, Boule Noire, Scene Bastille (all in Paris), @ Womex and Global in Kopenhagen, @ Electrochoc Festival near Lyon, @ Festsaal Kreuzberg Berlin, @ Gloria Theater Cologne @ Festival LIFEM in London, @ Studio SP in São Paulo @ Rote Fabrik in Zürich @ Cabaret Alétoire Marseille

They also played big major Festivals as: Montreux Jazz Festival, Paléo Nyon, Festa Sete, Jazzfest Vienna, Electrochoc Festival Bourgoin-Jallieu, Gurten, Frauenfeld and Zofingen, Siena Live Rock Open Air, Bluetone Festival Straubing, Gampel...

In France the concert agency BACANA (mulatu astatke, bonobo, seu jorge, tony allen, mocky...) is responsible for the booking.

For the first album „Nova Estaçao“ Da Cruz worked – among others – with Duduka DaFonseca, the former drummer of Antonio Carlos Jobim ("Girl From Ipanema") who was jointly responsible for the greatest hits in the history of Brazilian music. In the USA, the CD to the Top-10 of the CMJ World Charts.

The second album of Da Cruz was called "Corpo Elétrico" and was partly recorded in São Paulo and Berne/Switerland. It includes 14 new songs with participations of the percussionist Bolao (Dorival Caymmi, Ivette Sangalo, Nei Matogrosso) and the British producers Da Lata. The CD was distributed in 33 countries.

The third Album "Sistema Subversiva" was released on Six Degrees, was in Top 3 of the US College-Radio-Charts CMJ.
Don Yates of KEXP called it an "edgy fusion of various Brazilian styles with Electro, Hip Hop, Synth-Punk, Afrobeat, Ethiopian Funk and more, with loud buzzing synths and booming bass bringing a gritty urban edge to the bands colorful dance grooves.“ And „The Independent“ wrote: „Sun-hazed samba melodies set against crunchy ragga, rock and funk beats: what more could you want?“
