All female rap trio DaddysGirls are a refreshing new act breaking out from the UK music scene. Bringing back old school soulful sounds from the 90's, with astounding, passionate lyrical rhymes and vibes.
Hailing from the hills of North London, the group is made up of Mimi and twins Melinda and Melissa. The girls have been close friends for the past 9 years, having met at college and then moving onto the same university, where they studied a variety of courses between them.
It was at university where all the fun began. The trio thought about entering a talent show as a dance act. The twins were very well known for choreographing dance routines during their school years, but due to time constraints and a desire to express themselves through music the girls decided to rap instead. Although their music was well received on the stage, the girls were determined to complete their studies. They continued to participate in a few university talent shows, but unfortunately it wasn’t long before DaddysGirls stopped making music all together.
Three degrees and a few years later, DaddysGirls decided to reform and take the group more seriously. With a goal to eventually hit the mainstream market, the girls set out on a journey to complete their first promotional mixtape. With an organic sound influenced by an electric mix of Soul, Hip-Hop, Rap, RnB, Jungle, Drum n Bass and a range of artists such as 2Pac, Eminem, Fabolous, Foxy Brown, Fugees, Kano, Kanye West, Lil Kim, Michael Jackson, Mobb Deep, Naz, Notorious BIG, Outcast, Pharrell Williams and The Lox - DaddysGirls are definitely a cut above the rest, as they stand proud in their own league, currently the UK’s only all female sassy hip-hop/rap collective. Although male rappers dominate the hip-hop market, the girls didn’t feel they needed any gimmicks to grab attention. They hit the scene with not just outstanding talent, but with beauty, charisma and creative style.

DaddysGirls have confidently made their mark with the release of their debut mixtape ‘Life Begins with Lyrics’. The mixtape is a breath of fresh air, deep and meaningful, completely unique compared to the sounds of today’s UK music scene. DaddysGirls are capturing the interests of many diverse music followers all over the world.
