Biography

After many years of living life the way only DAGO knows how, "FULL THROTTLE",
DAGO & CRIMINAL HISTORY was born. A dynamic musical masterpiece with a mix of blues, southern rock, roots rock, and many others, led by lyrical genius DAGO a veteran 1%er. This singer/songwriter takes a different approach to writing music. He lives life and survives to sing about his experiences along the way.
Each song takes the listener on a private tour of DAGO's life, his experiences, stories, thoughts, and beliefs, told with a style like no other, brutally honest. An end to mindless words on a page, these are songs about life, real life, and the fans can all relate. DAGO doesn't sugar coat his lyrics, life and reality shouldn't be dumbed down.
Everyone walks away from one of DAGO's shows with a new story to tell, "we hear from our fans all the time about how they can relate to different songs, or how our music has helped them get through some tough times in their lives."
DAGO's 3rd full length cd,"UNBREAKABLE" due out in early 2008, contains his best work to date. Produced by Melvin James (PLANET MELVIN), and recorded at the legendary JUNIORS MOTEL (Slipknot, On A Pale Horse), the songs include sure fire hits, "BEST THING", "UNBREAKABLE," and "AMERICA/SMALL TIN GODS with Randy Weaver."
Listen for yourself. Buckle up and hold on. The bottom line is,"the only thing worse than dying is not ever living and not ever trying".
INFLUENCES:

BEST THING

Written By: J.M. DAGO MARCHELLINO

Best Thing

Copyright 4-11-2005 by J.M. DAGO Marchellino

1.

I've held many things -All a life can bring

Flown on broken wings-The best I could...

Held my baby daughters crying-Held a Brother who lay dying

Held hard feelings-much longer than I should...

Held to my beliefs-Even when they caused me grief

Held to dreams-Still ain't come true...

And I knew it well-Yeah you pulled me back from hell

When you held me close to you....

Chorus:

I've been running, Yeah running

For way too long

And all these miles-I've had to go

Left me weary and alone...

But you made my day-

My blues went away,

The day you said "I do"

You're the best thing

I ever held

And I'll keep holding on to you...

2.

I've held money, gold and jewels-I've held court on several fools

Held my head up high and proud along the way...

I've held vigils on the bottle-Ripped the cable from my throtthe

Held my tongue when I had nothing good to say...

Held my Colors and my Diamond-Up these mountains I've been climbing

Held a weathered eye upon the world I see...

Held my course through stormy weather-But it's never gotten better

Than when you're lying here with me...

Chorus:

I've been running, Yeah running

For way too long

And all these roads-I've had to travel

Led me further from my home...

But you caused my heart to shine-

When you showed me you're all mine,

Your love will see me through

You're the best thing

I ever held

And I'll keep holding on to you...

(Bridge)

3.

I hold memories from my past-As these years fly by too fast

Held my ground where others walked or ran away

I hold faces in my mind-Those who saw when I was blind

I hold secrets I'll take with me to my grave

Held my anger till I boiled-I've held pure and null and spoiled

Held myself to higher standards every day

I've held new and used and rotten-But these things are all forgotten

When you're loving me this way...

Chorus:

I've been running, yeah running through the darkness way too long

And this highway's been a lonely road

Searching for the place where I belonged

You're the sunshine to my night

Now I'm standing in your light

I know my search is through

Cause you're the best thing

I ever held

And I'll keep holding on to you

Outro:

This old heart of mine

Keeps on keeping time

Until our lives are through

And you're the best thing

I ever held

And I'll keep holding on to you

Yeah you're the best thing

I ever held

And I'll keep holding on.......

Holding on to you.

Spoken:

You're the best thing

I ever held

And I'll keep holding on...

End

UNBREAKABLE

Unbreakable

Copyright 10/15/2005 by J.M. Dago Marchellino & Chip Evans

(Spoken:)

You can put him in a cage...

You can throw him in a hole,

Threaten him with violence,

Give him life without parole,

But you're never gonna own him-

You can't even make him bend...

And he's more than you will ever be-

You can't break a man like him.

1.

Johnny was a working stiff,

A normal modern man.

He liked to spend his free time

With a fattie in his hand...

He wasn't no damn choir boy

And he wasn't any threat,

He liked his weed and a little speed,

He ain't killed no one yet-

(Pre Chorus 1)

And it seemed just like an ordinary day,

But dark forces in his life began to play

They rose up and carried him away

For the things he wouldn't______say.

2.

Jilted bitches, jailhouse snitches, liars on parade,

Say anything for a chance to walk,

They gave 'em Johnny's name...

Cuffed and chained and locked up tight,

They figured he would deal-

"Tell us everything you know or you'll live in stone and steel"

(Pre Chorus 2)

And it seemed just like an ordinary day,

But dark forces in his life began to play

They rose up and carried him away

For the things he wouldn't______say.

(Chorus)

Cause he's not even capable,

He's cool and unshakeable,

He's can't even makeable,

Cause some men_______________are unbreakable.

(Bridge)

They busted down his door that night,

They shot his dogs and stold his life,

They hauled him off to jail______

Bound and gagged, by honor tied

To the lonliness of being right-

They couldn't make him tell......

(Spoken)

"The law obligizes us to die for liberty,

And nature ordains that we die for our parents,

Our friends or our children-

But a higher duty is laid upon the Sage,

He must die for his principles,

And the truth he holds dearer than life.

It is not the law that lays this choice upon him,

It is not nature,

It is the strength and courage of his own soul-

Though fire and sword threaten him,

It will not overcome his resolution,

Or force from him the the slightest falsehood,

But he will gaurd the secrets of others lives,

And all that has been entrusted to his honor,

As religiously as the secrets of initiation".

3.

What do you do when they take it all,

When they push your back up against the wall,

Do you make the deal, tell on everyone,

Or spit in their eye and face the gun?

Life is fragile, talk is cheap,

You're just as good as the word you keep,

If more refused to play their game

Their house of cards disappears in flame-

(Pre Chorus 3)

Seemed like just another day,

But dark forces in his life had come to stay.

They rose up and they caried him away,

For the things he wouldn't_____say.

(Chorus)

Cause he's not even capable,

He's cool and unshakeable,

He's can't even makeable,

Cause some men_____

Are just unbreakable!

LEGEND

Legend
Words and Music Copyright
James M. "Dago" Marchellino - December 20, 2001

Verse 1
Skid marks on a highway,
Chrome and blood on the stone,
A legend lays dying
In the night all alone
No one sees his passing,
No one feels his pain,
His ragged breath gives way to death-
As Freya calls his name.

Verse 2
The news comes like the winter sun,
With it's empty distant light,
His women cry, his brothers sigh
As they bid their friend goodnight
Thinking back to better days,
And to things that might have been-
They lay him down in their hallowed ground
Where the fallen wait for him..

(Chorus)
He was a man of action,
A man of deeds-
The kind of man that you try to be.
He spoke the truth
And he pulled the weeds
He found along the way-
He might be gone
But he still lives on
Today

Verse 3
We spend our days and we make our ways,
Never knowing where they lead
Things change in the blink of an eye-
With an almost lightning speed..
We live and learn or we crash and burn
When the flames of fate are fanned,
And in the end the lives we touch
Tell the measure of the man

(Chorus)

Verse 4
So I'm heading out on the highway,
In the night all alone-
Don't know just where I'm going yet,
Don't know when I'll be home
I just know I've got miles to travel,
And I've got some tales to tell
I don't know where this life may lead-
I'll do my best and live it well

(Chorus)
He was a man of action,
A man of deeds-
The kind of man that you try to be,
He spoke the truth and
He pulled the weeds
He found along the way
He might be gone
But he still lives on today

He was a man of action,
A man of deeds-
The kind of man you're
Supposed to be,
He spoke the truth and
He sowed some seeds
That grew along the way-
He might be gone
But he still lives on today

Yeah he might be gone
But he still lives on.
Today....

SHINING THROUGH

Written By: J.M. DAGO MARCHELLINO

Shining Through
Words and Music Copyright
James M. "Dago" Marchellino - December 20, 2001

Verse 1
You have to play the hand you're dealt,
You decide which cards you keep
You find out that the bed you make
Is the place you have to sleep
Bridges burned and lessons learned
In the things you leave behind
You end up wise beyond your years,
But old before your time
And you might not like the things you have to do-
But when the chips are down they always count on you

(Chorus)
And you're shining through...
And you're tried and true...
'Cause you've paid your due...
And now you're shining through...

Verse 2
Sometimes in our lifetimes
Someone special comes along,
Standing tall above the crowd
They can tell the right from wrong.
And if they make a sacrifice
It's a heavy price they pay-
They give their freedom or their lives
So we can live another day
And they might not be here with us any more
But the way we live is a thing worth fighting for...

(Chorus)
And they're shining through
And they're tried and true
And they've paid their due
And they come shining through

Verse 3
Some folks might forget
We still have heroes in this age
Who risk it all to stand or fall
To the ground or to a cage.
And others like to think
That we're just living out of time-
I shake my head in wonder
At their empty little lives.
If they were here today they'd do it all again-
And they're always out there with us in the wind...

(Chorus)
And they're shining through
And they're tried and true
And they've paid their due
And now they're shining through

Bridge:
And we miss 'em every day..
Years from now we'll still look back and say________

Outro:
That you're shining through
And your hearts were true
We'll remember you (yeah we'll remember you)
And you're still shining through...

WIND TO PUT MY WHEELS IN

Written By: J.M. DAGO MARCHELLINO

Wind To Put My Wheels In
Words and Music © Copyright November 3, 2001
by James M. "Dago" Marchellino

From the time I was a young boy
Guess I've always had a problem with the rules.
So I had to do it my own way,
'Cause I didn't buy the crap they taught at school.
Caught some lucky breaks, made some dumb mistakes
And I always let my heart decide the truth.
When I hit the bumps I took my lumps
But I knew I'd never be nobody's fool.

Guess I've lived my life on the ragged edge --
Run a hundred twenty in the passin' lane...
And I'm good at leading with my chin
When I ought to bite my tongue and use my brain.
I've seen the darker side of things
But I know I'll never let it blacken me...
And I hope the way I live my life
Gives an ulcer to the belly of the beast.

CHORUS:
So give me wind to put my wheels in
And a blacktop to ride on,
And a woman's heart to keep me warm
And miss me when I'm gone.
Give me strength to do the right thing
As I stand against the storm.
And if fate should call and I should fall-
Bury me with my colors on.

So the years go by, the rust sets in,
But good company's the medicine I need.
And there's times I struggle with my load
But there's no one else that I would rather be.
Now time and age and the dues I've paid
Down the path I've run all lead me to today.
And the scooter's in the living room,
The winter's done and spring is on the way.

(CHORUS)

BRIDGE:
Yeah I've been away for way too long --
Gonna hear my pipes sing a highway song
And feel the breeze as the countryside rolls by. . . .
Something's wild inside me that I can't change
And if I could I wouldn't be the same
I was born to run until the day I die. . . . So

CHORUS:
Give me wind to put my wheels in
And a blacktop to ride on,
And a woman's heart to keep me warm
And miss me when I'm gone.
Give me strength to do the right thing
As I stand against the storm
And if fate should call and I should fall,
Bury me with my colors on . . . .
Yeah --

(repeat and fade)

TRIVIAL THINGS

Written By: J.M. DAGO MARCHELLINO

Trivial Things
I can still hear your words like it was yesterday
Saying I was the one that you wanted to stay;
But you turned so cold, yeah you threw it away.
Now it's time to move on because we're through.
But I've got something to say - to you:

(Chorus:)
I've grown to be wise and I've learned to be strong.
Now I'm living my life and I'm singing my songs
And it don't really matter what you do or you say
If you don't want to see me, baby, that's okay.
While you're spending your time doing trivial things
I've been learning to fly - I've been spreading my wings --
And I ain't got the time to waste on your games no more.

I remember the tears that you cried to me
But you sold your soul when you lied to me
'Cause there wasn't a thing you had to hide from me
If your love has died for me - well, that's okay
I'll be all right you see, and I'll just go away. . .

Because
(Chorus)

And when the years to come find you all alone
And you're thinking of me, well, don't pick up your phone.
'Cause I really don't care, and I won't be alone.
I'll be making a home with somebody new -
Someone to shine with me - and it won't be you.

Yeah
(Chorus)

BRIDGE

I remember the tears that you cried to me
But you sold your soul . . .

WATER'S EDGE

Written By: J.M. DAGO MARCHELLINO

The Water’s Edge

Words & Music by J.M. “Dago” Marchellino 5/11/05

Chorus:

Take me down to the water’s edge

Cause I need a place to hide

I’m wounded and weak, I’m tired and cold

And I’m running out of time

There’s blood on my hands, I killed a man

And I know the noose is tied

But I ain’t giving up and I ain’t backing down

Gonna stand my ground and I ain’t coming back

Alive…..

1.

Running through the darkness

Hear the sirens, see the lights

Never thought I’d find myself

In a jam like this tonight

Was it good or real bad timing

Guess he thinks I won’t be home

Hear the screams of the girl I love

She’s alive, he’s blood and bone

Now I hear the dogs, they’re coming after me

And I guess that’s just the way it’s gonna be

And they say I got to pay for what I’ve done

But tonight I do my talking with a gun…..

Chorus:

Take me down to the water’s edge

Cause I need a place to hide

I’m wounded and weak, I’m tired and cold

And I’m running out of time

There’s blood on my hands, I killed a man

And I know the noose is tied

But I ain’t giving up and I ain’t backing down

Gonna stand my ground and I ain’t coming back

Alive…..

2.

My ears still ring, smell the smoke and blood

As I try to catch my breath

The magnum leaves a nasty hole

And a quick and ugly death

Looking down at this empty head

When I realize what I see

This piece of shit’s Sheriff Billy’s boy

He’s always hated me

Page 2

Now I hear the dogs, they’re coming after me

And I guess that’s just the way it’s gonna be

And they say I got to pay for what I’ve done

But tonight I do my talking with a gun…..

Chorus:

Take me down to the water’s edge

Cause I need a place to hide

I’m wounded and weak, I’m tired and cold

And I’m running out of time

There’s blood on my hands, I killed a man

And I know the noose is tied

But I ain’t giving up and I ain’t backing down

Gonna stand my ground and I ain’t coming back

Alive…..

3.

My Baby’s hurt, too shocked to speak

So it’s up to me alone

I hold her close, say my last goodbyes

Then I grab the telephone

The ambulance is on the way

Stuff my pockets full of shells

They’re the hunters, I’m the prey

I’m gonna take ‘em all to Hell

Now I hear the dogs, they’re coming after me

And I guess that’s just the way it’s gonna be

And they say I got to pay for what I’ve done

But tonight I do my talking with a gun…..

Chorus:

Take me down to the water’s edge

Cause I need a place to hide

I’m wounded and weak, I’m tired and cold

And I’m running out of time

There’s blood on my hands, I killed a man

And I know the noose is tied

But I ain’t giving up, I ain’t backing down

Gonna stand my ground and I ain’t coming back

Yeah I ain’t giving up, I ain’t backing down

Gonna stand my ground and I ain’t coming back

No I ain’t giving up, I ain’t backing down

Gonna stand my ground and I ain’t coming back.

TROUBLE CALLS

Written By: J.M. DAGO MARCHELLINO

Trouble Calls

Words/Music by Dago & Chip Copyright 10/14/2003

1. Well the time has come for leaving-

It was peaceful here at least,

And you’ll always be remembered as a friend….

But I hear the war drums beating-

There’s a darkness to the east,

Now I wonder if I’ll pass through here again….

(Chorus):

‘Cause the thunder of the guns is coming closer-

There’s a smell of something evil in the air.

I think this golden age is almost over…

Now trouble calls my name and wants me there.

2.And I knew that it would come to this,

The bill’s been overdue-

We’ve been putting off the payment for too long….

‘Cause the price of freedom’s vigilance-

Now it’s up to Me and You-

To stand up tall and fight to right this wrong….

(Chorus)

‘Cause the thunder of the guns is coming closer-

There’s a smell of something evil in the air.

I think this golden age is almost over…

Now trouble calls my name and wants me there.

(Bridge)

(Piano Break)

3. So the time has come for dealing-

Now we’ve got to light a fire-

And it has to get our message to the street…

And it's got to touch you people-

And fill you with desire

Let’s make these motherfuckers feel the heat!

(Chorus x 2)

‘Cause the thunder of the guns is coming closer-

There’s a smell of something evil in the air.

I think this golden age is almost over…

Now trouble calls my name and wants me there.

Yeah the thunder of the guns is coming closer-

There’s a smell of something evil in the air.

I think this golden age is almost over…

Now trouble calls my name and wants me there.

(Outro):

Yeah trouble calls my name and wants me there…

Trouble calls my name and wants me there…

Say trouble calls my name and wants me there…

Yeah trouble calls my name___________________

And wqants me there…………..

-end-

CASUALTY OF WAR

Written By: J.M. DAGO MARCHELLINO

Casualty Of War
copyright J.M. DAGO MARCHELLINO 2005
Lookin' back I've known you now for more than 20 years
And all the guys you told your lies are cryin' in their beer.
And now I get the feeling that you've set your sights on me
(So) I guess I'd better tell you that it's never gonna be. . . .
I know I'm not a Boy Scout; I'll never be a saint.
I can make a list a mile long of all the things I ain't
But if honesty and loyalty both bit you on your ass
You wouldn't recognize them if they drug you through the grass.

Didn't mean to bust your bubble
But I just don't need the trouble
And I'm smarter than you give me credit for.
And you might call me a bastard
For avoiding this disaster
But I don't want to be your casualty of war. . . .

You'd probably like to tell me how I'm gettin' this all wrong,
How I'm the one you always loved and you waited for so long,
But experience and common sense tell me that I'm right on.
And your history's well known to me -- but I thank you for the song.
'Cause I've seen the ones you claimed to love after they lost your game.
They were such a mess, shell shock I guess, they never were the same.
In retrospect these things I say might seem a little cruel,
But I'd rather have you pissed at me than mistake me for your fool.

Didn't mean to bust your bubble
But I just don't need the trouble
And I'm smarter than you give me credit for.
And you might call me a bastard
For avoiding this disaster
But I don't want to be your casualty of war. . . .

So I don't mind, after tonight, if we remain just friends,
But as far as ever after goes, well this is where it ends.
And believe me girl, I'll understand if you say I'm just a jerk.
The sex was great but it's getting late, and unlike you, I work.

So please be kind and stop your whining because I need my rest,
I think I told you where we stand: I just don't want the stress.
So spring your little ambush on somebody who can't see
And save your breath, your kiss of death, for someone else, not me.

Yeah, I don't mean to bust your bubble
But I just don't need the trouble
And I'm smarter than you give me credit for.
And you might call me a bastard
For avoiding this disaster
But I don't want to be your casualty of war.

Yeah I guess I'm just a bastard
For avoiding this disaster
But I'll never be your casualty of war.

JUST A RIDE

Just a Ride
Words and Music
© November 26, 2000 by James M. "Dago" Marchellino

There ain't no easy answers - I discover as I go
In the things I take for granted - In the things I'll never know -
I'm still torn between the right and wrong,
the brightest lights burn half as long, it seems ....
Through addiction and subtraction -
The cost in wasted time and broken dreams....

Like others gone before me - there's the ones I've left behind.
All the treasures I've abandoned, seeking things I'll never find -
I drift across these stormy seas,
'til I'm finally washed up on the sand....
'cause for me too much just ain't enough,
but a lot of times it's more than I can stand....

I try to make some sense out of these thoughts inside my head,
All the things that keep me up at night while I'm lying in my bed -
I eat and sleep, I work and play,
I smoke and drink and fight, I fuck and ride....
Just to feed the hungers that I feel
and calm the wild things that live inside....

Sometimes my head is empty - Sometimes my heart is full.
I just abide and wait the tide that cycles through my soul -
and when the muses speak to me
the music and the words come rushing in....
then the writer in this rider
tunes it up and lays it down and starts again....

(Bridge)

I am just a passenger, and life is just a ride.
A pilgrimage from dark to light - across a great divide.
And so I try the best I can - to face my trouble like a man -
And I do....
And when it all becomes too much
and I need to feel a gentle touch - it's you....

Yeah, when it all becomes too much
and I need to feel a gentle touch - it's you!
