Bio

First of all, for me, music is a family story. My passion for music comes from my father who is a great pianist and singer. We used to play music on Sunday afternoon with my sister and all my cousins. Today, some of them are professional guitarists and percussionists in my country, French Guiana. My childhood was rocked by Caribbean music such zouk, reggae, dancehall, salsa etc. But in French Guiana, the music has always been greatly influenced by Black American music: Hip Hop, RnB, Soul, Jazz. I think my inspiration is just a mixture of various styles, although reggae rhythm remains predominant. I started to be a lead singer in 2007 when I met Thierry Debel (beat maker) and the South American Soldier production team. They taught me how to work in studio. In parallel I took one year private singing classes with Maryloo Coopen, a Guianese lead singer and famous backing vocalist. Since then I have written more than 30 songs, reggae, zouk, dancehall, soul, Bossa Nova, RnB, Pop, and Dance. Some of them are in free listening on myspace (www.myspace.com/dahyanazik973). I had only one opportunity in 2008 to diffuse one of my reggae songs "You and me" which was chosen to be on a CD compilation called Coast to Coast Gold 2, produced by Sensitive Record, a French Guiana music production. During my short artistic course, I shared a lot of music moments with various Guianese well-known artists such Mary C, Rhamsin or Skandalize, many experiences which make me growing up. Today I am living in Quebec and I perform in live every third Thursday of the month as back vocalist in a reggae band (Prise d’assaut) with is composed of some artists of the band "Movezerbe". Last year I was also back vocalist of the African singer Mamadou and his band, "the Kanewarabas". We performed at the Ballatou club and the Medley, at Montreal. Now, I am recording my first album at Outsiders RecHertz studio composed by Quebecois young producers who accept kindly to help me in this project. They give me the opportunity to work with some local artists like Teflon Don, X-One, Hazel or Peach Gyal. One day I wish I could touch with my fingertips the biggest dream of my life which is to share my music all over the world. That’s one of the reasons why I chose to sing in English, international language. Also English is a crazy language with great sonorities that I love to hear when I am listening to my favorite singers, Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Mariah Carey etc...
That’s it… I hope these lines will give you some ideas of who I am...
