"ALBUM REVIEW"

f you love classic rock, Auckland band Scene’s new 10-track album may become a new favourite.Scene includes bass player, Alec Cummins who is influenced by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tom Garcia who plays the guitar and enjoys heavy metal, Ash Aiyer who plays the drums, and Brit pop enthusiast, multi-tasker Dave Gale, who is the main songwriter, guitarist and vocalist. They wear their influences openly, and the combination of musical tastes and personalities seems to mesh well. The album kicks off with Tell Me, an upbeat song showcasing Gale’s vocal talents alongside some spine-tingling metal-esque guitar riffs from Garcia. Nature Child starts off slowly but develops into a heavier song proving the band certainly has a darker side. If you are looking for something to mosh to, The Fever is a true rock n roll set piece with large parts of the song dedicated to fast drum beats and more epic guitar riffs. The album concludes with Turn It On, another polished toe tapper indicating these guys are well on the path to becoming a most successful rock’n’roll band. - NZ Musician
