Biography

Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Dale
developed an interest in music at the early age of 10. He started by
learning to play the piano and guitar and composed his first song at age
11. Buoyed by the unending support and encouragement from his parents,
Dale took on classical guitar lessons and extensive voice training to
prepare him to breakaway from the crowded field of songwriters eagerly
trying to distinguish themselves. After receiving a diploma in
contemporary music with a concentration on guitar, Dale decided his
music would focus on love songs, ballads and soft rock for an
ever-increasing adult contemporary music market.

In 2001, Dale
settled in Los Angeles where he has continued to perform around town as a
sideman for various local bands in some of L.A.'s premier clubs like
the Rainbow Room and the Martini Lounge. This local experience helped
him to refine his writing skills while still keeping an ear on many of
his early and current musical influences—Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Alice
Cooper and Poison to name a few. With his appreciation for “80's Glam
Rock” and the need to write music with broad-based appeal, he has
created a distinct style by combining retro feelings with power ballad
force that makes his music stand apart from much of the “same old
thing”. When you throw in a little bit of country (Faith Hill, LeAnn
Rimes and Lonestar) you've got the essence of what Dale Effren is—a
songwriter on a mission. One of Dale's earliest influences was Mutt
Lange, a prominent international music producer from South Africa. He
counts Diane Warren as one of his favorite songwriters.

In 2009
Dale was awarded a scholarship from Concord Records for “Writing Lyrics
that Succeed and Endure” with lyric icon Marty Panzer and in 2010 UCLA
EXTENSION chose Dale's song THIS IS OUR TIME, as its Official Graduation
Song. Co-written with Debra Gussin, the song received it's WORLD
PREMIERE at Royce Hall in Los Angeles on June 29, 2010, performed by the
talented Erich Bergen (Jersey Boys.) In 2014 THIS IS OUR TIME was
chosen by best selling inspirational author, Paul Boynton to appear on
an album accompany his best selling book, BEGIN WITH YES.

His
past, current and new associations and collaborators include
include Grammy/Golden Globe Award Winner/Nominee Charlie Midnight (James
Brown - "Livin' In America", Billy Joel, Joe Cocker, Joni Mitchell,
Cher, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Hilary Duff), Multi-Platinum
Producer/Songwriter Michael Lloyd (Dirty Dancing, Barry Manilow, Belinda
Carlisle, The Doobie Brothers, Kimberly Locke), Dove Award Winner Art
Reynolds (“Jesus Is Just Alright” - The Doobie Brothers, “Ready For A
Miracle” - Patti Labelle/LeAnn Rimes) and Grammy Award Winner/Emmy
Nominated Songwriter/Composer Michael Silversher (Disney's “Gummi Bears
Theme Song” and “Talespin Theme Song”) to name a few. Perhaps it's

Verse 1

You were there from the moment I opened my eyes
And you're still here today by my side
You gave me everything, that I could ever need
I was blessed, I had an Angel watchin' over me

Chorus

You gave me love my whole life
Your hand was there to always hold onto
My hopes and all my dreams you made come true
I owe so much to you
How can I ever thank you?
You've given me so much
But above everything
You gave me love

Verse 2

I couldn't have come this far if it weren't for you
And even when time's were hard you were there to see me through
You guided me through life every step of the way
Somehow you knew what to do and you knew just what to say

Chorus

Bridge

You were always there to catch me, if ever I would fall
You've been there from the start, yeah, you've seen me through it all

Popstar

Verse I

Its Monday mornin’, I can't get out of bed
Been up too late writin’ the songs in my head
My Teacher’s gonna be yellin'
Where on earth have you been?
One day I'm gonna tell her somethin’
I'm off to live my dream

Chorus

I’m gonna be a Popstar
A Popstar, yeah, Baby
A Popstar
A Popstar, yeah, you'll see
Born to be Popstar, yeah me!

Verse II

So fed up with my ordinary life
What I'm doin’ just don't feel right
One day I'm gonna be livin'
The life I was meant to leed
Gonna come alive each night on stage
For the whole wide world to see

Repeat Chorus

Bridge

You can be anything that you wanna be
Don’t be afraid, don't be scared
Nothin’ is as far is it may seem
So just hold on and believe
And don't give up on your dreams

Repeat Chorus

Take Me Home

Words and Music by Dale Effren © 2009

Verse I

Waitin' by this old pay phone, the rain is wet and I am cold
When will you get here?
Maybe I'm drunk and should go home, but I don't want to be alone
I'll have another sip of my beer

Pre-Chorus

There must be someone out tonight who needs someone to hold them tight
There must be someone in this world who needs me

Chorus

Take me home tonight
Take me home forever
I'll be yours for life
Take me now or never

Verse II

Headed home, this lonely road doesn't end just goes and goes
Guess you never got there
No one's around just myself now, doesn't hurt to scream out loud
Does anyone care?

Pre-Chorus II

Maybe it's all in my head, it's reached a point where I don't care
Is there anyone who can pretend, to want me?

Repeat Chorus

Bridge

Home is dead ahead, it's time to go to bed
Wish I was someone loved, in place of me instead

Solo

Repeat Chorus (Add Lib)

This Is Our Time

This Is Our Time

Words and Music by Dale Effren © 2009

Verse I

Can somebody pinch me, is this real?
I'm feeling now, what I've waited my whole life to feel
And here we are face to face
I gotta tell you it feels great
Now I can rest 'cause it's finally true
I'm gonna spend my life with you

Chorus I

This is our time
This is our moment
I've waited my whole life and here you are
This is our dance
We dreamed of this romance
And we'll stay safe forever in my heart
Look how far we've come, we made it
This is our time

Verse II

We'll have a baby daughter, perhaps a son
And in there eyes we'll see what our dreams have become
Remember the night we first met?
Still swear I kissed an Angel yet
I never knew somethin’ could feel so right
Our forever starts tonight

Chorus II

This is our time
This is our moment
I've waited my whole life and here you are
This is our dance
We dreamed of this romance
I swear to you we'll never be apart
Look how far we've come, we made it
This is our time

Bridge

There is nothing we will fake
Our love's too strong to ever break
With every breath I take
I swear these vows I make

Repeat Chorus II (Modulation)

Fall

Fall

Words by Martin Schauss
Music by Dale Effren © 2009

Verse I

I see you when the leaves fall down
And sorry raindrops hit the ground
They're swallowed up and no one sees
They ever existed through the breeze
Before you know all life is gone
Color turns grey as does the song

Chorus I

My beautiful spring exists no more
To all my love you've closed the door
That feeling of good that no one sees
The taste of home left on the breeze
Come back, come back sweet memory
Come back my love to me

Interlude

Verse II

All around me now is dead
Your golden sky now fills my head
That warm sky that I adore
Has left and opened Winter's door
Your springs at the onset of fall
My Winter comes early after all

Chorus II

To my beautiful spring I say goodbye
Is it too late to even try?
That feeling of good that no one sees
The taste of home left on the breeze
Come back, come back sweet memory
Come back my love to me

Livin' My Dream

Livin’ My Dream

Words and Music by Dale Effren © 2009

Verse I

I came to this town searchin’ for myself, I came to follow dreams
But the line for fame was somehow longer then it seemed to be on T.V.
I didn't have much money or credit history to go by
But there was one thing that helped me survive
Yeah it still keeps me alive

Chorus

I'm livin’ my dream
Even though I'm not rich & famous
Don’t matter to me
As long as I believe
And as long I'm alive and my soul is free
You'll find me
Livin’ my dream

Verse II

This town is hard, it gets real dark, gotta be careful where you go
‘Cause everyone you meet says they are someone or there's someone that they know
To make ends meet I keep working each day from 9 to 5
But there's one thing that helps me survive
And it still keeps me alive

Chorus

Bridge

And no matter what comes my way
I know that I'll be ok
We all have our dues to pay
So just hold on and live for today

(Modulation) Chorus
