"Daline Jones - Fabulous Vocalist"

We are fortunate to have incredible musical talent living in Los Cabos. The vocalist, Daline Jones, moved to this area from San Francisco last year with her husband, Ron Weber. She quickly became part of the jazz scene with her memorable voice, soulful performances and the amazing way she has of entertaining audiences.

"Dynamic Duo"

Daline Jones, the beautiful singer who simply radiates talent, has most fortunately become part of our musical community in Los Cabos. You can listen to her Friday and Saturday evenings at Amarone Ristorante in Puerto Paraiso and also at Cerritos Beach Club on Sundays.

Daline Jones was born in New York, the eldest of six children, to jazz poet Ted Joans (1928 – 2003), also a musician and painter, and his wife, Joyce. Joans was part of the writers of the Beat Generation, during the “glory days” in Greenwich Village, and was a contemporary and friend of Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg. He is known for his quote “Jazz is my religion and surrealism is my point of view.” Joans’ painting of Charlie Parker, “Bird Lives”, hangs in San Francisco’s DeYoung Museum, a modern silhouette in black shadow of the jazz legend.

Before moving to Cabo, Daline was the lead vocalist for the Starlight Orchestra, headlining at Harry Denton’s Starlight Room for 10 years. This famous room, at the top of San Francisco’s Sir Francis Drake Hotel gave Daline the perfect backdrop for her multi-talents. As vocalist for the Starlight Orchestra, Daline sang everything from Ellington and Gershwin to Aretha Franklin and Chaka Kahn. Most recently, Daline performed at Zinco’s Jazz Club in Mexico City and at many jazz festivals in Cabo and Mexico

"Daline Jones"

Daline Jones is currently based in Cabo San Lucas but remains one of the most popular singers in the Bay Area. Daline opened Harry Denton's Starlight Room at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel in August, 1995 and performed with The Starlight Orchestra. Daline has a huge repertoire and is equally at home with all of the great standards, jazz, bossa novas, Motown and contemporary soul and dance hits of the 70s, 80s and 90s.

Daline has worked in the pop and jazz fields, at nightclubs throughout the United States and has headlined in Las Vegas. She has also performed as a backup singer with The Commodores and War. Daline has recorded three CDs (now five), received extensive airplay and has reached the Top Twenty on the Contemporary Jazz charts. She is currently working on a CD with Lonnie Jordan from the band War.

She has performed the National Anthem for the NBA's Golden State Warriors many times, has performed at the last three San Francisco Black & White Balls and for many private and corporate events.

Her effervescent performance and beautiful style will add class and fun to any event. - Bay Music & Entertainment

"The Calmer Sider of Cabo, where Tequila is Sipped, not Slammed"

After a decade long stint as the first lead female vocalist at Harry Denton's Starlight Room, Daline Jones, daughter of late beat poet Ted Joans, swapped stardom for early retirement, 360 days a year of sunshine and an oceanfront parcel of land on the outskirts of Cabo San Lucas. (It functions completely off the grid, with solar energy and a natural well.) Lapped by the Pacific Ocean on the west and the Sea of Cortez on the east, Cabo has long been a venue for deep-pocket sport fishers, Hollywood types and 40-year-olds demonstrating you're never too old for spring break. But beyond the flashy tourist hotels and tequila-pounding bars, there's another Cabo -- a slower, quieter town of meandering streets, open-air restaurants and nightclubs where the guitars are unplugged and the tequila is sipped. It's an area best explored on foot. Cabo attracts nearly a million visitors a year, and Jones hosted 20 of them as houseguests during her first year there. We asked her to share her favorite places to take guests and naturally, to catch live music.

Hip Italian hosts

"One place I sing at regularly is Amarone, a modern Italian restaurant owned by three very hip and handsome Italian guys who have been friends since childhood.

Their families own restaurants in Verona, Italy, and they came to Cabo to do their own thing. They have featured live jazz since they opened a few years ago. Diego Ramirez, the best pianist in Cabo, plays there most nights, and I sing with him on Fridays. I love singing at Amarone, because of the setting -- an outside stage overlooking the marina and man-made waterfalls, with soft lighting on the palm trees. It's very tropical and relaxed; it feels like a place to linger."

"Festival Internacional de Jazz & Blues"

Named after the surrealist painter, Salvador Dali, singer Daline Jones was raised on the music of Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn and Charlie Parker. Her professional career began while she was still in high school. Since then, Daline has recorded with Lionel Ritchie and the Commodores, headlined at Harrah’s in Las Vegas and released two critically acclaimed albums for Palo Alto-based TBA Records. Her second album, “Share the Love,” was in the Top Twenty on Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz charts for several months, and her third album “On My Way” featured Gerald Albright on sax, Ron Eschete on guitar as well as pianist/co-producer Joe Massimo.

After a ten-year engagement at Harry Denton‘s Starlight Room in San Francisco, Daline and her husband moved to Los Cabos where they live today. The Festival is thrilled to have Daline kicking off the concert series with a soulful free performance in the Jardin, backed up by the San Miguel Jazz Cats.

Daline's singing style has been called a mix of Natalie Cole and Diana Krall, with echoes classic Ella and Sarah. "Part jazz, part pop, part soul....class with sass!" (Destino Magazine) She was "cross-over" before the word was popular. Daline is racially and culturally mixed; "it shows up in the way I sing." She swings a jazz tune, caresses a soft ballad, and then gets down to do something funky. Her heart and soul are revealed through her dazzling smile and energy. And her onstage experience makes her a relaxed professional. Audiences love her.

The Daline Jones Group is a perfect Trio, playing a unique blend of Hip Jazz with an edge of Latin and Soul. Accompanied by the award-winning Diego Ramirez (from Mexico) on piano, keyboard bass and backing vocals, and Luciano Callado (from Brazil) on drums, percussion and backing vocals, this compact group packs a huge punch of talent!
Daline's energetic stage presence is matched by the virtuosity of Diego's piano and Luciano's incredible rhythms. This unique group knocks people out with their original music, covers, Jazz standards, Brazilian and Mexican tunes and old-school soul songs - all in their own style.

They are based in Los Cabos, Mexico, but travel worldwide. Daline and Diego traveled the USA in August and September 2011 playing famous (and almost famous) venues from San Francisco to New York to Hilton Head to Palm Springs. The Duo sold out every venue and they have been requested to do return engagements at all of them!
A schedule of their dates is in the Calendar section of this Electronic Press Kit.

Their CD, "Listening to the Light", is a collection of their original music with several covers, receiving radio play in the US, Mexico and Brazil and selling at the best online sites. And now, Fall of 2011, they have just released "Soft" featuring Diego's lush arrangements acompanying Daline's cashmere voice on covers of Jazz, Pop and Latin standards....everyone is saying, "It's time for something "Soft" and this CD hits the mark.

All three of the Daline Jones Group are pros and bring plenty of experience to thier music and performances. They are working constantly in Cabo San Lucas and it shows - they are tight, tight, tight!
Before doing their current CD, Daline released several critically acclaimed albums; “Share the Love,” was on Billboard’s "Top 20" Contemporary Jazz charts, and her album “On My Way” featured smooth jazz saxophonist Gerald Albright, WAR keyboardist Lonnie Jordan as well as pianist/co-producer Joe Massimno. Her songwriting chops are the legacy of her Beat-poet father, Jazz surrealist, Ted Joans.
Daline also headlined the famous Harry Denton‘s Starlight Room in San Francisco, as lead female vocalist for the Starlight Orchestra (1995-2005), singing everything from Ellington and Gershwin to Aretha Franklin and Chaka Kahn before moving to Los Cabos, Mexico. She has already made a big impression in Mexico, appearing at the famous Zinco Jazz Club in Mexico City several times with her Group and also with the Zinco Big Band. In 2007 and 2008 Daline was a featured artist for the San Miguel de Allende Jazz and Blues Festival and she is in constant demand for every large Festival and music event in Los Cabos.
