The Brooklyn Bands, Karwreck, Live Girls, and Dali’s Screwdriver make a dramatic line up for the 14th Street after hours club, Otto’s Shrunken Head, on Friday, June 10. Kar Wreck plays a rumbling alt rock set that goes beyond Luna in its intensity. Live Girls rocks it hard with a two girl rocker floor show in front of a driving bass and drum. Finally, the dynamically intense trio, Dali’s Screwdriver, rounds out the evening with songs that build from deep slower beginnings to a rock and funk infusion. Bio
Punk, Rock, Country, Alt Rock influences are combined in this three piece band. Songs are introspectively and sometimes humorously romantic with the associated passion and pain of country and the continued drive of punk or funk. Steel guitar and the lack of bass give the band a unique sound with ranging dynamics. Influences include REM, Nick Cave, certain periods of the Rolling Stones, Jon Spencer, The Pixies, and others with an added Hip Hop funk tinge.
All three members of Dali's Screwdriver have played extensively in the art and performance scene in New York with other bands or behind other performers. Locales have included everything from Chelsea galleries to music, performance venues like The Cutting Room to theatres such as Theatre for the New City. Although the members of the band have played with each other in other bands, the current line up and focus has been formed within the last two years.
