Bio

Damiak has spent most of his youth bouncing back and forth from the urban expanses of Mexico City to various locations in the United States. He spent most of these early years learning instruments such as piano, violin and guitar. Dichi later went to school for musical composition and audio engineering and found electronic music composition to be something he not only had an interest but excelled in and loved. After this period of academia his affection for musical culture and sound led him to travel the world in search of new musical experiences and knowledge. This constitutional of sorts ended in San Francisco where Dichi still resides. Here is where he further refined his craft and subsequently created the Damiak alias in which to release his music. In 2004 he released a 7” on the n5MD imprint entitled Pesero which was a glitch beat heavy outing that primed Damiak as an artist to watch. Shortly after the 7” Dichi released 2 tracks on the Konstrukt Collective’s IONS compilation. Dichi then spent several years re-learning some of instruments from his youth in addition to learning even more instruments to record his debut album that features a multitude musical styles and techniques that reflects his worldly view. This album entitled Micalavera, which’s title loosely translates to “my skeleton”, released in the spring 2007 by n5MD, features Dichi’s take on electronic, electro acoustic and instrumental music all in a cohesive whole that is an authentic, warm and multi-faceted work of musical craftsmanship.
