Alternative Country Singer/Songwriter Damian James Bruce has a catalogue of songs are the result of personal emotional exploration and an attempt to understand his place in the world. They are also an attempt to communicate his desire for a less complicated life in the country away from the cities.

In January 2009, damian teamed up with producer James North in Brisbane to complete his first EP. Completed in November 2009, the resulting EP is balanced between hard hitting alternative country ballads that sing of a desire to leave all that the city stands for, in search of meaning and love and songs that are more subtle, born out of emotive conversation fragments.
Damian taught himself guitar at the age on 13, using an old fender left behind by his father. He wrote his first song at the age of 14 and became fasinated in the craft despite his mothers wishes.
Influenced by Bruce Springsteen, Pete Murray, Crosby Stills and Nash, Niel Young, Bob Dylan, Damien Jurado, Iron and Wine. Daman is looking to complete and album shortly.

Mean things

Written By: Damian James Bruce

Mean things.

Another new town
Another fork in the road
Another faceless crowd
In a nameless bar I go.

To the faded walls
And the sour smell
Woody Guthry's playing

A couple of pints for lunch
This Irish girl sits down
Her pure Dublin voice
A resonating sound
Her hazel eyes and long brown hair
Belied her ancestors well.

She say's
"Let the sun led you home babe,
Mean things happin'in in this world … tonight"

Though slight in frame
She's mastered whiskey well
Darkness lines her eyes
From the burden of a crown
She tells me of her brother lost
Takes a sip and cries

"Let the sun lead you home babe,
Mean things happin'in in this world … tonight"

We get to smiling again
As he shows me her tattoo
A beautiful celtic song
One that I never new
And as she sang the song
A beautiful light from within her shined
Like a sentinal standing in the night
She watches over her kind

"Let the sun lead you home babe,
Mean things happin'in in this world … tonight"
