Biography

Damian Rourke has just finished his self-titled second album!! With musical influences like RUSH, Simon & Garfunkel, The Beach Boys, Jimi Hendrix and more, the long-awaited LP features new, original songs performed, arranged, written and produced by Damian. It has feel-good melodies for every listener while lyrics explore life and love with all of it's pleasures and challenges. He is hoping to bring his career as a performer / songwriter to a wider audience and is planning to reach all areas of Ontario with the release of “Damian Rourke”. This past summer Damian was a featured performer at both the Leamington Tomato Festival and the Belle River Sunsplash Festival.

Damian discovered the guitar at the age of fifteen. After having played classical guitar and being a member of a high school cover band, he started his own songwriting and first entered the studio at the age of eighteen to record his first demo. Gaining experience playing live, in the studio, and being in and out of bands, he ultimately decided to concentrate on a solo career.

In December 2004, Damian released his debut solo album entitled “Up the Down Escalator”. Showing great versatility and creativity, the songs on this album are vibrant, colourful and genuine. He has been working to promote his name around the Windsor area, his album “Up the Down Escalator”, and his newest material by playing local venues and selling this LP. In July ‘06, Damian was selected by Border City Radio to have two songs from this album featured in their bi-monthly Podcast.

“Damian Rourke” will be an excellent follow-up to his debut release, reaching more listeners than before. Appropriately titled, this album is a much closer look at what Damian is about.

Lyrics

Not Today

Written By: Damian Rourke

Where on earth did you just go
You went inside, scary I know
Where did all this just come from
I know that you’re much stronger than some

I can see it in your heart
Feel it in your eyes

Oh, I can see you’ve gone away, gone astray
But I won’t let you get away
I won’t let you get away, not today
No, Not today

You know exactly who I am
I’m “The One” in anagram
You know so much about who I’ve been
You have to know I try to say what I mean

I can see it in your heart
Feel it in your eyes

Oh, I can see you’ve gone away, gone astray
But I won’t let you get away
I won’t let you get away, not today
No, Not today

I want to become part of you, put my arms around you
From here we know what to do

I can see it in your heart
Feel it in your eyes

Oh, I can see you’ve gone away, gone astray
But I won’t let you get away
I won’t let you get away, not today
No, Not today

One By One

Written By: Damian Rourke

It’s not really like how it was supposed to be
Did the message get clouded on the way to me
And why aren’t things as easy as they seemed
All those words used not saying what we really mean

One by one
One by one

Sisters made from the same
Brothers connected more than a name
I’m putting the pieces together
Is there anything that lasts forever

While we’re here the time is in short supply
We think we have to do it all but all we have to do is try
You turn your head and realize how much it weighs
That everyone eventually has to go away

One by one
One by one

Sisters made from the same
Brothers connected more than a name
I’m putting the pieces together
Is there anything that lasts forever

Do something it’s what we’re here for
Take it all and a little more

One by one
One by one

Sisters made from the same
Brothers connected more than a name
I’m putting the pieces together
Is there anything that lasts forever

Eye Contact

Written By: Damian Rourke

The words that I can’t seem to remember
In those far too few perfect times
Something about "would you have the time for me?"
Something about "would you be mine?"

Getting your attention, harder than it seems
Start the repairs, do I have the means?

All I want is to know your touch
But your eye contact for me is too much
Soft and sweet, it is such
That your eye contact for me is too much

When trying to say the words, I’ve misplaced my tongue
Better telling you through words from songs that I’ve sung
Whenever I’m around you, the spotlight’s on me
Never mind the noise you hear, it’s only my knees

Hasn’t happened for a while that I start to feel shy
You look straight at me, I will not deny

All I want is to know your touch
But your eye contact for me is too much
Soft and sweet, it is such
That your eye contact for me is too much

My heart hasn’t learned not to get in deep
Your dreams make your heart more confused while you sleep
What’s the reason you didn’t pay attention before
Were there feelings there that you chose to ignore

All I want is to know your touch
But your eye contact for me is too much
Soft and sweet, it is such
That your eye contact for me is too much
