"12 Arkansas Bands You Should List To Now"

The music of alt-country heroes like Dawes and early Wilco flows through the veins of Damn Arkansan along with a little bit of Ben Kweller’s pop sensibility. The result is a breed of music that bridges the gap between Americana and indie rock. - Wyndham Wyeth, pastemagazine.com

Bio

Damn Arkansan is an independent band based out of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Their debut album, Damn Arkansan, consists of 12 tracks bridging genres from Americana to Indie Rock. The energy in tracks such as "Lafayette" and "Raincoat" illustrates a restless traveling quality that makes the album easy to drive to. The anthemic "Too Much Gold" utilizes a variety of vocal harmonies and biting guitar solos that have garnered early comparisons to bands such as The Eagles. The band also integrates harmonica into several tracks on the album, most notably in “Hard to Sleep,” in which the solo launches the song to the familiar rustic sound that American folk music was built upon.

Before their first live performance, the band was invited by KXUA, the official radio station for the 21,000 students at the University of Arkansas, to perform live in-studio. After their debut live performance, Damn Arkansan was selected to perform in the Northwest Arkansas series supporting artists from the 2011 SXSW Music Festival. Within less than two months, the band was nominated for two Northwest Arkansas Music Awards, including Best New Artist and Best Country Band. They are currently playing shows all around Arkansas and the surrounding states in support of their debut album and writing new material for their sophomore release.
