Damn Near Down

Damn Near Down is a 5 piece hard rock band hailing from Columbus Ohio. Gar (vocals), Bob (guitar/vocals), Dana (lead guitar), Bill (bass), and Tim (drums) are all veterans of over 20 years in the midwest music scene who came up through the ranks cutting their teeth with some of the most well known bands in the Ohio area. Damn Near Down marks the reuniting of Gar Kesee and Bob Blackburn for the first time since the end of their legendary Columbus area band Victim. Bob's previous band, Undivided, featured the song "Face The Day" which recieved airplay on 99.7 "The Blitz" in Columbus. Gar's last band, 9GT, was a midwest powerhouse and had it's song "18 Wheels" featured as the theme song for "King Of The Strip" airing on ESPN2.
Joining forces with Tim Gray and Dana Green of Sticky Dame, Acoustic Mayhem, and Uncle Crush fame, they put Damn Near Down together and quickly released their debut full length "Match Made In Rehab". The cd took the local scene by storm powered by it's two singles "Pony" and a reworked cover of the Mr. Mister hit "Broken Wings". Through word of mouth and the reputation for having an exciting and energetic live show, the band quickly gained a large and dedicated following in the Columbus scene.
After a year, the band decided to part ways with their original bass player and brought in Bill Melton who had worked previously with Gar in 9GT. Bill brought alot of expierence with him from his years playing in multiple local giants including 9GT, This Day Forever, and Wolfgang Parker. During his time in This Day Forever, Bill had been sponsored by Spector Bass and was signed with Tour Dog Management and played on 2 national tours. With this new lineup the band headed once again into the studio to put out their second full length cd in 2 years. The result was titled "Snakejuice" and quickly blew the lid off the local scene. The boys were featured on local radio on 99.7 "The Blitz" in Columbus and they debuted 4 songs from the new cd while being interviewed as well. The folllowing weekend they played to a packed sold out house at their cd release show at O'Shecky's in Columbus. Their legend has been set in the local scene as a band that writes dirty, driving rock songs that have big chourses and hooks that keep you coming back for more. That mixed with an in your face energetic live show has made Damn Near Down a must see when they come through your scene.
