DamYO

DamYO's musical journey started as a young boy when he was introduced to a plethora of different sounds. His family is of Dominican descent where he was introduced to the sounds of the island which include: Merengue, Perico Ripiao, Bachata and Salsa.

DamYO is the youngest of 6 siblings who were born and raised in the Bronx, NY during the 80s and 90s. The musical backdrop of his upbringing was provided with soulful R&B, House, Old School Rap and such which were played in his household every night. On weekends he would experience the latino flavor his immigrant family took pride in.

When DamYO entered 11th grade he was introduced to the acoustic guitar where he learned how to play classical music and rock 'n' roll rifts. His guitar mentor, Mr. Iandolo, gave him the necessary tools to understand the fundamentals of music theory which has helped him in his DJing craft.

In the summer of 2014, DamYO started working as a Part-Time DJ for Harry's Bar in Syracuse, NY while he was obtaining his undergraduate degree. Throughout his time DJing in Upstate NY, DamYO has performed in several night clubs such as Trexx and Lion's Den and was a headline DJ for his fraternity's annual Mayfest BBQ in 2015.

DamYO is currently the Co-Founder of PTA (Pass The Aux) Radio; a radio show that seeks to provide a unique musical experience through music production and mixing. He has also DJed at Fenwick's Pub in Riverdale NY where he catered to an energetic Manhattan College crowd.
