"There is something very unique about A Nu Language - the very hip, very snazzy album both written and co-produced by the originator of The Gospel Slide."

Dana Divine. Much like her last name, there is a 'divine' air that exudes from the modern twist to the classic message that unfolds track by track. From the first note, I knew I would enjoy what lay ahead; and I was right.
The first track, Use Me Lord is surprisingly smooth. The acoustic values are amazing! If you can imagine the intense peace that floods over your soul as you completely and sincerely surrender your all to the Almighty - take that peace bottle it and spray it all over the room; that's the atmosphere that this song sets. Very smooth. "Here is my hand for You to hold.... here is my mind for you to mold..." The message is very clear and very powerful at the same time.
For those of you who love that mellow brassy jazz flavor we offer PPLG also known as PeacePowerLoveGrace. Sweet harmonies, melodic vocals that make you nod ya' head and pat those feet. Sweet, sweet, sweet. It's not very often that you get to jam to a prayer, but here's your chance. While asking the Father to teach you how to live each day, how to work and play, to cleanse you through and through you get to kick up your heels to this very contemporary groove.
He'll Neva Change is slated as number three. Just when you thought it wasn't possible to get anymore chill - D.D. takes you there with this cut. This cut is also very relaxing and delicately balances on the rim of contemporary music without falling over into gospel rap or the other way into traditional gospel.
Looking for a love ballad to the Lord? Try No One Like U. Run that bubble bath... light a candle or two, or three and soak in the suds as you meditate on the awesome supremeness of the One above all else. "Promise You my heart for the rest of my life...there's no one quite like you..."
Okay. Ready to shake things up?? The Gospel Slide has got it down pat...or is that down stomp, two pats to the left...you get the picture. It's the gospel answer to the Macarena and the electric slide. Who needs the electric slide when you're wired for Christ!
A Nu Language is a sure-fire success because of its wide-based flavor. It gently introduces the hard-core traditional gospel music lover into a more relaxed, less formal way to worship. It personalizes worship by taking it out of the church walls alone and bringing it to your everyday. Songs that you can clean the house to, get your hair braided to, wash the car to...that's what we need. And the brilliance of it all is that it's not instantly shut out (As many gospel songs are) by those who still need to hear the gospel. They listen; and before they even know what's hit them, they're nodding their heads and patting fingertips and toes. After a while they muster up the courage to say: "Hey, that's nice...who is that? When you say Dana Divine, they appreciate the info, but you can tell they don't necessarily know the name. However, with a collection like A Nu Language, they soon will.

"Dana Divine Launches in the UK"

Dana can almost be described as a music veteran with a career spanning over 14 years and someone who has worked with many of the big guns like R Kelly, Billy Ocean and top producers Mark Pichiotti, Hula and Maurice Joshua. Add to that Billboard Chart hits and a song licensed to Sony Playstation, you expect big things on her latest project.
Let’s address the musical direction of the album. Basically you have two sounds - a soul/R&B singer and then all-out house diva and the track listing appears pretty much like that. First part soul second part house. With those two extremes it is hard to get a feel of how she is trying to put herself across musically. Someone like Ann Nesby can get away with it because of the tremendous industry recognition she carries. Whereas for relatively unknown Dana, this can be a risky path to take for an artist still looking to establish herself.
However, the majority of tracks are very good. Early on ‘Peace Power Love Grace’ jumps out immediately with its jazzy keys, smooth beat and Dana’s sultry voice. In a similar light is ‘Stop’ and the real soul groover (think Donnell Jones beat) ‘So EZ’ both being great advocates of that Neo-Soul sound. ‘Bounce’ is a run-of-the-mill R&B cut that is three years too late, a bit passé for the current sound of urban music. Touching on the cheesy side is ‘No One Like U’ with lines like “if loving you is wrong than I don’t want to be right” it does border on the ballad cringe factor.
Drastically turning up the tempo, we delve into upbeat house cuts kicking off with ‘The Gospel Slide’ no doubt offering the Gospel massive an alternative to the mainstream hit “Cha Cha Slide”. The other two house cuts are quality and if I were her record label executive I would recommend pressing up both ‘Sweet to My Soul’ and ‘I Testify’ on a limited edition white label and blitzing the dance market. Her vocals ride the rolling four by four beats and jazzy basslines with such ease where she could carve a niche for herself on uplifting gospel house anthems alone. The album ‘A Nu Language’ draws appeal from two distinct crowds but there is still that need of bridging both styles which would then make the project sound less fragmented.

Bountiful Blessings with This Album
Reviewer: DJ PURPLE - CD Baby Artist
A little background info: I really enjoyed getting “The Gospel Slide (JAM)” cd-single. Now to the present: I can’t describe the joy I felt seeing this album’s availability. I knew it was coming and I tell you that it was well worth the wait! Every song on the album is just superb! Seeing Maurice on the remix tip was great as well. There is enough range on this album to satisfy every dancing urge. But, perhaps the best part of the package is the demonstration video for the Gospel Slide; now you can add these steps to your line dancing repertoire! Once again Chicago talent shines right through. The album is a blessing—I just wish I could give it more stars!!!

Bio

Independent artist Dana Divine is versatile, multi-talented, and proven. She is a singer, songwriter, actress, producer, and host of music and television. A native of Chicago, Illinois, Dana began her music career working with industry superstars such as R. Kelly, Will Smith, and Billy Ocean. It was the house music classic Brighter Days which Dana co-wrote that confirmed her calling to inspire.

In 2000, Mary Mary placed their call to Take the shackles of my feet so I can dance. Dana followed suit writing and independently releasing the original gospel line dance, The Gospel Slide. The success of The Gospel Slide led Dana to launch her ministry globally in the UK, Jamaica, and the Bahamas, along with many churches and venues stateside.

Chicago, with deep roots in Gospel music continues to be the epicenter for Dana to expand her ministry. Dana Divine launched her own media company, Tri-M Entertainment in 2001, and has been focused on its motto of Music, Ministry and Message ever since. She has worked with many of Chicagos premier gospel talents including, Donald Lawrence, DeWayne Woods, Darius Brooks, The Brown Sisters, Walt Whitman, and many others.

In 2004 Dana released her first independent full length gospel album, A Nu Language. This compilation included hits such as, The Gospel Slide, PPLG, and Sweet to My Soul, a gospel house anthem produced by Grammy winner Maurice Joshua. So Ez, one of the standout tracks from this album, went on to be included on a UK soul compilation and ended the year as one of the top soul UK tracks.

Continuing on her success as an independent artist Dana released her second gospel album, Lifeline in 2009. Lifeline has continued to broaden the reach of Danas ministry. The video for Hero which deals with themes of domestic abuse and bullying is a powerful visual that Dana uses while talking about these themes. Other standout tracks on Lifeline include collaborations with reggae gospel artist Papa San (U Dont Know), and tracks with backing vocals and arrangements by Dewayne Woods. (Lifeline, Hero, Its Not Too Late)

Danas commitment to independent production led her to host and produce a television series for the Chicago market called Next Gospel Star. This show is a weekly showcase of Chicagos rich gospel talent and has featured acts such as Phil Tarver, Lemmie Battles, Joshuas Troop, Angie Spivey, Bishop Larry Trotter, and Calvin Bridges amongst others.
