"Dana Marcine Reminds Me of Peggy Lee"

As soon as I heard her lilting, songful first words, I knew she had a voice unlike most others. I thought I was listening to Peggy Lee. I just knew she was a singer. I love her original Long Island Serenade song... and so will others. - Richard Grudens,Author/Jazz Historian

"So Unexpected review"

Dana Marcine – SO UNEXPECTED: This Brooklyn native wails a mean vocal, let me tell you… well, not exactly “mean”, but she sure is “on” through all dozen tunes on this fine CD. Dana’s voice on “Imagine Brasil” will have you movin’ your hips to the beat immediately. Eight of the songs are written by her, too, so that adds yet another layer of excitement for the listener – you can TELL she’s loving what she’s doing, and she expresses it very well. The upbeat pace on “From This Moment On” captured my vote for favorite track… Dana really makes this track move! For listener who love great female jazz vocals, this gets a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) rating of 4.97. A truly enjoyable 12-song set! "Improvijazzation CD Review-Dana Marcine"

Dana Marcine – CROSSING LIGHTS: A very contemporary jazz vocal experience that will reach right out and touch your ears, as well as your heart… the keyword for Dana’s vocal style is “husky”, at least that’s my first impression. 8 of the 9 energetic tunes are Dana originals, which is why it comes across as so vigorous, methinks. If it’s cool you’re listening for, you’ll love “Jumpstart My Heart“, though if you’re looking for something in a slightly more “funky” vein, you’ll dig down deep into “Long Island Serenade“. Another keyword as I listen through this one the second time is – FUN… it’s clear that Dana and the other players (Rob Roman on piano, Angus Mackie on bass, Joe Siracusa on guitar and Karl Sterling on drums) know how important it is to stay away from cliché and boring repetition. It was the 3:55 “Evil” that put the frosting on my cake, though… solid lyrics, tight playing and extra special talent all combine to make this a great CD… I give this one a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for any and all listeners who want a spot of magic in their listening lives. “EQ” (energy quotient) is 4.94. "Dana Marcine : Sophistication and Substance"

Every so often, a new talent comes along in the jazz world that lives up to the standards of past legends. It is easy to see why Dana Marcine is named as one of the " New Citizens of the Jazz Community" in Richard Grudens book, "Sinatra Singing." Her latest CD, "Crossing Lights," merges original, insightful songwriting with nuanced emotion that takes us to an era when sophistication and substance were buzz words. Marcine's songs are stylish, compelling, and powerful. From "Little Birds" to "Long Island Serenade," we as listeners, are transformed to a world of beautiful sentiments and songs of transition. Her music is heartfelt, revealing and proof that she is an emerging artist to be reckoned with. - Joseph C. Stillman- Producer- La Paloma Films

"Midwest Record Review"

It's not often you get a new jazz diva who writes her own rather than dip into the chestnuts, but Marcine is out to break the mold. A sophisticated kind of singer, she has the background and chops to assure that she's going to hit all the right notes, and she puts it all into the service of bringing her original art songs home. She's the kind of singer that keeps you coming back to your favorite up market lounge. This is a nice set of satisfying adult listening that works well throuout. - Chris Spector

"CMJ Jazz Chart Issue"

Crossing Lights will be listed as one of the Top Five Jazz Adds on the CMJ Jazz Chart Issue- 1165 of CMJ's New Music Report Magazine. - CMJ

"Quote from Radio Adelaide - Australia"

Dana Marcine has a lovely voice and excellent diction. The seven originals by Dana Marcine are great, and the songs tell appealing stories. A great singer and songwriter! ( about Crossing Lights CD ) - Peter Kuller

"New Citizens Of The Jazz Community"

Singer/songwriter Dana Marcine has been profiled in a new biography "Sinatra Singing", which explores how the greatest jazz singers have been influenced by Sinatra's talents. Marcine is named as one of the "New Citizens Of The Jazz Community" alongside Michael Buble, Maude Maggert, and Jane Monheit. " I remember Sinatra when I am singing a tune like "New York, New York", which I sang for former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani. I hope somewhere Sinatra is smiling," she said. - Richard Grudens - Celebrity Profiles Publishing
