Feeling a bit camera shy

Dana Maries

Music had been a part of Dana Marie’s life since early childhood, but it had never become a true passion until high school. She began piano lessons in grade school, but didn’t start voice lessons until 9th grade. The voice teacher she began singing with influenced her appreciation of the different genres which started a real passion in her for the art of music.

Although she had never considered a career in music, Dana eventually felt God calling her into some sort of music ministry, involving both singing and playing. She is extremely thankful for this calling, even though she is only at the brink of her musical career.

Dana believes that music is just one way to worship God, but she also believes that it is a powerful one. Most of her songs are a testimony of something she’s either experienced or witnessed of a friend. She desires to connect with her audience on a real and personal level and hopes to encourage them with God’s love.

Dana has been inspired by the vocals of Norah Jones, Sixpence None the Richer, Rosey Thomas, and Nichole Nordeman. Spiritually, she has been influenced by musicians like Rebecca St. James, Newsboys, and Shane & Shane.

Dana is currently attending Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, MI., where she plans to finish her Bachelors in Christian Contemporary Music, with an emphasis in piano, in the Spring of 2010.

Dana mostly performs worship music, but she also enjoys doing a variety of secular music. While most of her performance has been in the church, her demand for outside performance is seriously growing.
