Feeling a bit camera shy

Originally hailing from Red Deer, Alberta, Dan Besuijen is now making waves in Regina’s music scene with his first full length, No Depression. Culminating four years worth of writing, the album follows a steady evolution of mental destruction and repair, and draws from Dan's musical influences, Radiohead, Matthew Good, U2 & Tool. A CBC Radio 2 review described No Depression as “really enjoyable”, and a small, but quickly growing following has formed around it across the country.
No Depression was recorded in late 2007, early 2008, and was followed by a year and a half of mixing and mastering via file transferring with co-producer Tyler Hauser. The album was subsequently released in October 2009
After playing a couple dozen solo-acoustic shows of retranslated tracks from the album, Dan formed The Government in 2009, with remnants of local legendary band Fio, and two former members of The Eyebrows to promote the album, as well as write new material. The Government has played several local shows, to great response and will hopefully go on a small tour, summer 2010.
