Bio

He’s been called a New Brunswick Bluegrass Legend, despite the fact that Dan Cunningham is a mere thirty-three years old. Dan began performing Bluegrass at nineteen and has since fronted two successful Bluegrass Bands, written three critically acclaimed albums, been an ECMA nominee, performed at countless Festivals, concerts and shows and has shared the stage and performed with some of the finest Roots artist today.   Dan's solo album "Obscurity" (released in February 2006) surprised the roots world across Canada. Within the first month "Obscurity" was one of the top ten domestically spun albums on Canadian folk/roots radio. This success was instrumental in him being selected by the Canadian Country Music Associations as one of the top ten most promising acts in Canada. In September of that year Dan became one of the first Bluegrass acts in the country selected to perform as part of the CCMA's coveted "New Artist" showcase.
Dan has performed alongside a who’s who of East coast artist such as Brent Mason, Ross Nielsen, The Divorcees, and Samantha Robichaud to name a few. Not to mention, East Coast icon Gordon Stobbe (CBC’s “Up Home Tonight”), Harmonica wizard Mike Stevens and Canadian roots icon Fred Eaglesmith. As well, he has performed with such International artists as Bluegrass legend Raymond McLean and is currently scheduled to perform with Grammy award winning artist Roseanne Cash. Dan has been a feature on Global TV's "The Noon Show" as well as several appearances on the Rogers TV program "The Songwriters Circle". He has also been featured in the CBC radio special "Twang" hosted by country superstar Lisa Brokop. Dan was also honored to host the bluegrass songwriters circle at the 2006 and 2007 ECMA's and has become an ambassador for bluegrass music across Atlantic Canada.         Weather solo or with his crackerjack ensemble “The Dan Cunningham Band”, audiences continue to rave about his ability to connect with listeners and deliver hard hitting performances with passion and integrity and still somehow maintains that down home sensibility and charm.
