Danelle Harvey will commence her Fair Trade Fortnight 2008 Acoustic Tour and album due for release in Spring 2008.

Tortured Soul will be Danelle’s first album release since 2005. Since then this ‘Ethical Diva’ a singer/songwriter whose music of ‘non preachy’ social and political interest has been on the road performing worldwide, releasing singles and recording her new record. Her recent dance single ‘Real Love’ was on limited release. Her single ‘Heaven’ (exclusively released as a download) in conjunction with Fair Trade Media was an innovative and successful venture twinning ethics and music to promote global and environmental issues.

Embarking on an unplugged Fair Trade fortnight Tour between 25/2 and 9 March, Danelle will perform at Oxfam’s very own coffee chain ‘Progreso’ in London, 29th February, with other dates soon to be announced. A promotional album tour later on in the year of her upcoming album release on her own record label Tygahoney Music encompasses Hamsa Festival in Sweden, and venues to be announced in the UK and the US.

The former ex-model and actress is keen to help promote humanitarian causes including homelessness and Fair Trade and has done so for many years, away from the media spotlight as a campaigner and fund-raiser. After recent contact from organisations based abroad to act as a chair person for their Hollywood charity causes, Danelle realised that she would be better placed to concentrate on issues closer to home that would not hinder her work for Fair Trade and formed a Community Interest Company that enables promotion for independent artists and musicians while ‘giving something back’ to local communities and humanitarian causes worldwide including the homeless charity Shelter, Refuge, Crisis and chosen Fair Trade organisations. Recently invited to Shelter’s premiere for their new film ‘Trapped’ Danelle attended the showing, happy to support the cause.

Danelle’s current released EP Home, available from selected Independent and Ethical music outlets including CD Baby and Ethical Superstore was featured in CD Baby’s top 10 recommended Urban Folk albums alongside artist Martha Wainwright in 2007. The EP is also available from all major download stores.

“Danelle’s soulful and reflective approach to music-making brings her in line with Tracey Chapman, while her vocal delivery has the all-woman gusto of Heather Nova or notorious blues/rock legend Janis Joplin.” Niki Seth-Smith, Hybridlab

"Danelle Harvey Review"

Danelle Harvey’s music is exceptional for its raw sincerity and highly individual power. As a singer/songwriter Danelle accompanies her impassioned, blues-infused voice with acoustic guitar. Also a social activist, Danelle involves herself with a range of causes including Refuge and Fairtrade. In addition, a percentage of proceeds from her music sales go to Fairtrade. This songwriter’s musical roots can be found in social interests, yet her songs remain highly personal, never attempting to preach or impose their views.

Danelle’s soulful and reflective approach to music-making brings her in line with Tracey Chapman, while her vocal delivery has the all-woman gusto of Heather Nova or notorious blues/rock legend Janis Joplin. Her sound is generally faithful to its blues/folk roots, although tracks such as’ I’m Okay’ and ‘What Could I Do’ show Danelle augmenting her soulful style with upbeat, raunchier flavours. Upcoming album ‘Tortured Soul’ will be available for download early this year.

"DaNelle - Home"

The coffee shop hues of the CD cover suggest something both mellow, smooth and maybe even a little bland. However, on first listening it is clear that Home is both mellow, smooth but anything but bland.
Established artist Da’Nelle Harvey hails from North London and has been performing for many years. Home is released on the Fairtrade Media label and is dedicated to the people of the village of Mtondeza in Malawi.
Title track Home is a heartbreaking plea from one lover to another in which Da’Nelle’s voice soars with ease and grace. Indeed, her voice is beautiful but distinctive containing a sometimes childlike delicacy. She also manages to use the ubiquitous melisma pronunciation without employing the transatlantic drawl so often favoured by soul singers. Her vocals on track three, Not So Long Ago, are subtle and controlled but hint at a vast range which makes me want to hear her deliver a more powerful soul ballad.

Released on the Fairtrade Media label, a percentage of the proceeds of sales of Home will go towards Tradecrafts overseas development work. So, not only a worthy cause but a worthy addition to any CD collection for anyone interested in hearing a fresh and exciting talent.

Bio

“Folky/Bluesy/Rocky - addictive” “Powerful soulful vocals" and “ Urban Indie-Hippie-Chic” are just some words used to describe the singer/songwriter, London native Danelle Harvey’s music. She rocks up and delivers often on roller skates, armed with acoustic and electric guitar, a 5+ octave vocal range, rap/reggae emceeing, rock-chic angst & humanitarian love.

While her music is guaranteed to make you feel good, Danelle pulls no punches with her 'straight to the point' lyrics and her captivating 'to the core' vocals.

If Danelle's face (or body!) seems familiar, it's probably because they are; Film and Television roles and appearances include: About a Boy, Nia Long's body double in feature film Alfie, TV shows including Second Sight with Clive Owen, Bad Girls and Eastenders. Singer/Composer credits include Sony Playstation’s Dance Mat Advertising Campaign theme tune, Hollyoaks and Make me a Supermodel. Danelle has shared the bill with artists including Amy Winehouse and Robin S, written for, or worked with P.Diddy, Meatloaf, Fun Loving Criminals and P-Funk. Each of these artists has given kudos to this petite powerhouse, her blazing performance and voice. Her voice can be heard all over TV; Danelle writes, composes and releases music through the groundbreaking independent Record label, Tygahoney Music.

"I love how organic she is, and how raw it is... I love her voice." Simon Webbe, Blue

"Danelle is blessed with a voice that touches everyone who hears it, SHE ROCKS! She will be around a long time..." Jerome Rodgers, P-Funk
